QUOTE (jkgolf @ Sep 13 2011, 10:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>i never needed to tape it. if you get someone to push down on it while you close it using the motor, it should close tight enough and prevent any leaks. thats what worked for me anyways.
you got any more plans for it?? and if your ever thinkin of sellin, give me a shout.
Image

The previous owner had taped it all up, and when my dad was taking off the tape the paint lifted off
Image
, then he couldnt fix the sunroof anyway so he re-taped it back up to cover the peeled paint. Its fairly neat, better than silicon, would prefer a working sunroof though.

yup ive plans for it
Image
, decent stereo + speakers, fix the sunroof, paint the vw badges black, and as the budget allows fix up all the little scrapes and scratches. Some little bits of tidying to do too, have a mk3 gti so im kinda swaping bits and bobs over and back.
Am in love with the wheels at the moment, but borbets could be on the cards sometime next year
Image

I intend on keeping this for a long time, but when the time comes to sell i'll give ya a shout

Today was the first chance I got to give the car a half decent clean, so I did and took a few proper pics.

Have added one or two bits to the interior (which obviously you can't see in the pictures!) , few more things to change and ill upload interior pics
Image

One a bad note, due to the fact that my tyres are poking out a tiny bit they have caused stone chip marks on my passenger side door,
Image
only noticed them today because usually that part of the car is covered in muck. Also noticed a few more paint scratches and imperfections, however in my opinion its in pretty good nic for a 96 regardless

Green is a nice change, most of my cars have been black!

QUOTE (eoghanroe @ Sep 21 2011, 10:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Looks good. A tad lower though, you know you want to.
Image
more low ftw, was lower when I got it but I was catching road all over the place, hence why its not as low as it should be

Well though id through a little update into the thread.

Below is a new addition (note: if you have never played angry birds, you missing out on something special
Image
)

Image

He's hanging up with fishing line, I hope it looks like he's floating but I dont think the fishing line is thin enough.

Robbed the front badge of my other golf and took the black paint off it, have a few ideas.....

Image

Think it might end up being rusted or a debadged grill will be going on!

While looking at my front splitter the other day in the pit i noticed this , dont know if you can see it but there is a rock wedged into some part of the car
Image

Have a few annoying but minor issues to fix up,
1. rear window demister dosent work.
2. my lamps at the back are leaking water into the boot, and I also have a water leak behind the passengers seat
Image
, so my car smells like damp carpets...

Am looking for a roofrack and de badged grill and am looking to replace the lights in the bumper as they are cracked. Will be putting up a wanted thread soon, if you have any of the before mentioned items and live near or in mayo pm me

QUOTE (mk2-lover @ Oct 11 2011, 04:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Would the leak behind the passenger seat be anything to do with the heater matrix?

Have no idea yet, am dedicating this sunday to fixing it and the other little leaks and pools of water that are appearing in my car

Small update:

Well as I mentioned my rear lamps were leaking in water so I swapped the foamy stuff that goes between the lamp and the body of the car with thicker foam from another golf. Success....or so I thought.

Image

Left the carpets out of the boot to dry out for a few days, when I went to put them back in the boot was full of water. again. Only on the left hand side though and as it turns out the water was coming in where the boot lid latch thingy is and in through part of the body which was rusted away (actually there is patchs of rust every where).

Image

Little bit of this in a few places and leak sorted I hope
Image

Image

I may as well through this in as well, for anybody who hasnt taken a rear bumper off a mk3 before its quite simple, 4 bolts ontop , 3 underneath, 2 stupid clips at the arches (both of which I broke) and a bit of tugging and its off!

Image

Image

Because ive broken the clips at the archs the bumper dosent sit right, will be fixed when I find replacement clips.

Next is german plates, new oil and glow plugs me thinks, and one or two new stickers and that will be it for the winter.
oh and tax since the gards pulled me the other night coming home from work, sound enough about it though just told me to get it sorted.

them is nice alloys, let me know if you sell to decide them....send me a pm or something, cheers
