That is really interesting but I wonder where the mk4 r32 sits on that and I'd love to see an updated one with the mk6 golf R and polo R included

mk2 is easily over the tonne

 

Some of the weights you find are totally dry as in they are with empty fuel tanks, base spec and no driver, I think more modern requirements for kerb weights include something like 1/2 a tank of fuel ect..

Mk 4 R32 - 1552kg
Mk 5 R32 - 1540kg

Mk 5 GTI - 1336kg
Mk 5 GTI ed30 - 1360kg

Mk 6 GTI - 1320kg
Mk 6 Golf R - 1521kg

Scirocco R - 1344kg
Scirocco 2.0T - 1298kg

2010 Polo GTI - 1194kg

 

My mk4 turf burnin' van is only something like 1030 Kg according to the DOE cert!
Then I kinda ruin the light-weightness by sitting in!

Nice info tho, may actually support the Top Gear test of new vs old that time when the mk1 beat the mk4... GTI's

 

Jes the Mk 6 Golf R is a heavy bastard, alot of the extra power seems to be eaten up by the weight of the 4motion!!

Yeah I was suprised also that it is so much more than the GTI but they are the figures in the UK brochure. I did find it stated at 1450kg from another source though.

 

interesting that the current Polo is heavier than the mk1 Golf...

 

are they dry weights or laden weights? Th mk2 is defo under a tonne, look at your nct report, my car was weighed in this time at 967kg with a quater tank of fuel. not sure if my tubby tester was in it or not tho

 

i got the caddy weighed today and it came in at 960kg

 

Where are people getting weights of their cars from? there is no weight on my NCT report,where on the report is it ?

AFAIK the weight is on the DOE to confirm the classification of it as a Light goods vehicle at less than 2.5 ton... (LGV)
above that any vehicle is a HGV again, to the best of my knowledge and understanding...

Don't know and wouldn't think cars are weighed...

My nct report lists my mk3 td as being 1300kg or so..

 

i have an nct report for a 1.3 4 speed mk2 cl, i can remember getting it ready for test, i left nothing in it but the basic stuff, i remember it was low ish on juice, 890kg's not bad.

Thats weird..

My old A3 1.8T was just over 1200kg and the S3 is 1465kg. What did SEAT hide in your car?

I would have imagined that the Leon would have been around the same weight as the A3.

Are those actual NCT weights Keith or the quoted Audi weights?

I'm going by NCT weights. Previous years weights were less but I had fitted biggerr ARB's and fmic. Not enough to add 200kg's though.

on the report on the top left i think. its used to assess the breaking effort required for the weight of the car as far as i know.
