Hi,
I recently registered my anniversary GTI when i got my log book i found it to have a mistake on it. In the version section it had 'Golf 1.8 GTI 16V'.

This is oviously wrong.
For one it is not a 16v and not to mention that nowhere does it say anything about being a anniversary.

Normaly this wouldnt matter to me but i payed over a grand more on VRT for being a anni over a standard gti so i want it to atleast say that it is a anniversary on my log book.

Anyway after alot of going back and over and from local VRT office to Shannon i eventualy got my ammended log book back today saying what i want it to say.

I think this is very sloppy of Reg office.

Just woundering if this had happend to anyone else???

Samething happened me,i cleared my car 2 wks ago as a leon cupra R.It cost me an extra grand just for the R alone but when i recieved my log book it said a seat leon 1.8.Nothing about a cupra R so i got on to the revenue and told them the least they could do is put the right details on the book seeing as i had to pay an extra 2 grand for a cupra R and not a standard leon.I dont think they would have been too happy if i went in to clear it as a leon.Did it take u long to get them to reproduce the new log book??

Wel sounds the same as me. They want you to pay the extra tax but then make a mess of the paperwork.

Wel before you can get changed you need to send off your old log book. And send that registered post on tuesday and have the new book in my hand now.

So once you figure out is it your local office or shannon thats wrong it doesnt take too long.

Get it changed. Cant be good if you tryd and sell it as cupra r and not saying it on log book.

Seems pretty common really, just look at the autotrader and note how many glanzas/skylines/integras etc have "non-turbo", different displacement or not Type-R/GTR log books, once the revenue get their money they dont care!

Still something to look out for to make sure your getting your moneys worth but i don't expect to see a "Government department takes large amount of money and does crap job, country outraged" headline anytime soon

Its not that small of a thing - like let just say a sierra cossie - a rs500 should command a major premium on a standard cossie but if it ain't on the log book its just another cossie = major loss to the owner - or even a mk2 shell with a rs2000 logbook is worth a multiple of an ordinary mk2.

And they have no problems charging you a premium on the VRT - do they

Whatever about getting the 16v bit sorted which they should rectify as it is factually incorrect, they never put special edition names on any car be that Anniversary, Campaign whatever and I think this is also the case in the UK. If I was buying a special edition, I would be more inclined to verify it using chassis number rather than whatever it said on the log book - why, well if everyone importing a car, say for example a MK1 Campaign lookalike, was able to say to the VRT office "lash campaign on the name of it as that's what it is" then the amount of rip offs would be incredible. If it is genuine it is nice to see its full proper name but not necessary as only proof of its authenticity. Buyer beware

Very true - sure some "RE-SHELLED" classics might only have the original engine or just the logbook??

And the ammount of galanza's advertised "reged as bog standard 1.3" and lancer evo and gsr's "reged as a bog standard 1.8L and 2.0L" shows the VRT office is not up to scratch.

One of my (lovely lovely french) renault 19s is a 1991 1.4 prima, i.e. base spec 60bhp. Its had a 1.8 16v conversion mechanically and when registering it i got it down as a '16v executive' which is the last one the line 16v models with leather that came out in 1995.

Must check the cupra book, it comes up cupra r on cartell so i guess its the same
