for anything thats going to be more than 20euro i go to donnelly's in enniskillen.
saving is huge, they will arrange postage and packaging, stuff is always on time and correct.

 

I've spent the last couple of days pricing parts eg brakes and filters and I'm getting everything need for 243stg in p&r as opposed to over 370e around Louth

i got full service parts for the leon for 60 euro delivered form seat dealer in the north. that was air oil pollen and diesel filter 5L of vw 505.01 spec oil and a sump stud. local vw dealer wanted near 50euro for the 5L of oil alone!!

 

saved around 300quid on a clutch and flywheel kit up north compared to down south.

 

I saved just under €100 on a seat foam base and heating element from Donnelly's in Enniskillen. It's madness the prices of parts down south.

I take it you done it your service yourself..

If you went to local dealer with all Genuine Parts would they service it for you. So you keep all your stamp book up to date.

 

Aren't MDL gone and the VW dealers are working thru Volkswagen UK now?

Ya all parts are coming in from UK but they are ordered threw Dublin..

 

I order my genuine VW stuff through Sinnotts in Wicklow Town and their stuff comes from VW in Germany and you can tell by the info on the label.

ya serviced it myself. wouldnt go near a main dealer for service anyway once the car would be out of warranty.. they prob would but rape you on the labour charge!

MDL no longer import the cars or parts, VW Ireland do that and the parts are coming direct from Germany into Dublin.

I am reasonably certain that VW UK does not form part of the supply chain as I have never received parts with a VW UK sticker attached to them nor has a back order part ever come from the UK, always ex Germany even if there is stock showing in the UK through a UK dealer.

 

It is all through the UK now as far as I know, has been for the past 4 months or so. That is why the Southern dealers are now selling the Quantum oils from VW UK.

What do you think of the quantum stuff George?

 

I have used it before and had no problems, it is supposed to be Castrol oil but I'm not sure how true that is.

I put a can of it into the S6, sure it can't be too bad, change it again after 5k, it'll surely be alright. There is some price difference between it and the castrol.
