ok lads since i cant get anyone to wire the golf for me im going to have to try do it myself,i have a few questions.

if my gti has a ce1 fuse box if i get a diesel of the same year will it plug straight in the ce2 loom wont,

at the moment im thinking of just changing the whole loom and fuse box to the ce2 and clocks etc or will i run into trouble there..

i ran a wire to the pump and a relay for the glow plugs and car started fine but oil light temp gauge fuel gauge all not working

any advice or info would be greatly appreciatived

here are the 2 different fuse boxes if it clears up my problem as im loss at the moment

Can you not put the coolant jackets from your 1.3 engine onto your td engine and plug your connectors into them?
Oil light wire most likely needs be plugged into sensor on side of head.
As far as i remember, if you have wires that you can't identify, if you earth them they will identify purpose on dash as in illuminate lights or raise needles etc.

i am in offaly why you ask?you mean 1.8 im not sure im total clueless with this wiring craic i was looking at it again today and now ive even managed to put the ignition switch wrong think i need change the loom and fuse box means i could use the diesel clocks,so annoying as cars ready apart from this..

well if you were near me i would come over to give you a hand, but your not so....

Quickest route would be swap the looms i would imagine. They should plug and play reasonably easily as long as their both CE1 looms. Clocks will need to change too as the petrol ones probably wont have the glow plug warning lamp.

I really dont see what the problem is, vw wiring is probably the most idiot proof of any make.
Everything just plugs into the fuse box.
Not when i havnt the loom to change im going to get a ce1 desiel loom and clocks and change them .or if you want to do it id gladly sort you out for it.

you dont seem to be getting anywhere with your 5 or 6 threads looking for pretty much the same thing, i'd say your best bet is to find an auto electrician closer to home, its not the kind of thing someone can just come to your gaff and do, it takes planning space time, testing inspection of the loom(s) etc etc, good luck with your search
