Story lads?
Anyone know anything about electrics?
My Mark 4 tdi Golf keeps blowing the rear side light bulb.
New bulb goes in, its blown within a day or two.
All other lights are fine.
Im using R10W - 12V bulbs on both sides.
Left (passenger) side keeps blowing.....driver side works no worries.
Took bulb out and it looks burned inside, shiny silver coating all over inside of glass.
Element broken....again.
Any ideas would be sound
cheers

I had the same problem with my Golf tdi, it was the contacts in the bulb holder being bad. The bulb wasn't making good contact and therefore blowing bulbs for sport. I pulled all the terminals up a bit and smeared a bit of vasaline on the them and it solved it for a while. Just had to do it every 6 months or so.

Hope it helps

That happened me and I was told to change both sides at the same time with bulbs from the same packet.
It sounded like a load of bullshit to me at the time but it worked.

thanks lads,
i changed the bulb again tonight and in the process its after blowing the fuse for my electric windows and remote central locking. losing my fuc*in mind here....!
no sign of the fuses when you open the panel. everything bar the ones im after are on the fuse layout chart.
both symbols are doors with a key on one ( central locking), and electric windows on the other.
does anyone know where these two fuses are in the car?
it says in the book that the electric windows are on theyre own seperate fuse.
it says that this fuse will automatically reset after a few seconds (it doesnt blow?)
anyone know anything boys cos im fuc*ed here.
hope it dont rain tonight!

I think it was me that found out about changing both blubs at the same time 4 years ago or so.

I had the same problem with my TDi 150 and by chance I just happend to change both at the same time and the problem was sloved. Never changed a blub again, had the car another 18 months or so untill I sold her to John
