Toying with a number of ideas at the mo. and went to look for the price of a new Golf R32. It's not shown as a model on www.volkswagen.ie ? I presume I can get one here?

You are absolutely correct. It is an insane amount of money to spend on a car in this country. Even if it is because of taxes. It's very hard to justify.

lucky women,

55K is mad money for the R32, ide be going for the GTI myself

QUOTE I was driving a GTi today worth 40k plus. Lovely car but not worth the money IMO.

especially when you could get a focus ST or astra sport hatch SRI and still have money left over to tax and insure it and put some juice in it.

QUOTE Until you lose your bollix on them come trade in time
is there a bad trade in on them GEO, even if you got the blue ST??
i didnt know that

Too early to say obviously but traditionally the GTI held its value much better than the competitors from Opel/Ford. I would say it would be worth enough in a few years time to offset the price difference when new.

I wouldn't buy any of them anyway, I'd get something like a passat or A4 TDI for every day and something like a Golf/Corrado G60 or an E30 M3 or something for weekends.

you need the space to park these cars though,
not 2 spaces in a car park

so to have a sporty and sensible car in one would be nice,

anyhew its an argument for another day because i wont be spending 40k on a car or anything like
that in the near future, and i dont really like the opel or ford all that much myself

ps how are TT's on tradein do they hold value??

LOL... Just come across this thread

As a former R32 owner I can honestly say that the new MK5 R32 is not worth the extra money over the MK5 GTI... especially if you spec the GTI with the DSG gearbox (

Good man thos!)

Anyway.... my comments probably dont matter since I bought a Focus ST!!!! lol

You guys probably think what does he know anyway....

Ohhh... And I have to comment on ST trade in prices as well

LOL... The VW GTI is ÂŁ20500 up here standard...

The ST is ÂŁ17500... Thats ÂŁ3k saved in my piggy bank
Image

After 3 years the GTI is worth 51% of its value and the focus is worth 48%.....

Not much difference?
