the mpg does improve but its relitive. the better performance will make you want to push it on, but if you are cruising normally, the mpg will be improved compared to cruising pre map.
but not drasticly.

you'll have to ask joe himself on price.

you should buy a spare coilpack or two and keep them in the spare wheel tray regardless of map. they are handy in case one goes on you out of the blue and easy to change so you wont be stuck.

not in all cases, mine dropped from averaging 36-38mpg down to 31-33mpg after the remap - that's on the weekly round trip I do from Ennis to Dublin (240miles)
so if your expecting an increase in fuel economy you could be disappointed but the increase in power makes it worth while
edit: these are the readings from the trip computer, I'll do a direct calculation from what what I use out of the tank next week.
Calculation from what was actually used this week in the round trip is 38.1mpg so quite a bit more than the readings from the trip computer (32.3mpg)

Who did the remap for you?

In most cases I'd argue a remap won't affect reliability or mpg on a well maintained engine, one thing to defiantly look out for as stated are cracked or torn hoses, the 1.8t PCV system uses rubbish rubber hoses that are more than likely causing boost leaks/running rich if they haven't been checked yet, it's a simple fix an makes a whole lot of difference!
