@DaveC Thanks very much Dave, its getting there now, another week or so and ill be finished.Its running like a dream, just waiting on getting m rims back from the paint shop and the bumper then ill be set

How long have you been working on this car?

 

Very good. What colour is that. I take it your are a spray painter. Any advice on which paint to use, brand etc.. I am getting close to spraying my own car (Mk1 16V). I wont have the use of a paint chamber.

 

That's some project Trevor, fair play to you, should be lovely when it's finished. What engine management are you using?

 

Now that's the stuff. A top project and very professional looking.

@ The Doc : Been working on the car since last July. The car was in the bodyshop almost two months with a good friend of mine, whos work is impeccable. His attension to detail goes beyond belief!

@ Newtown Mk1 : Nope Im not a spray painter so I cant advise you at all. All I know is this car got 4 white coats of primer, 4 grey coats of primer, 4 Base colour coats , then was completely re flattened. Another 2 coats of Base and then 4 coats of laquer, then re flattened then a further few coats of laquer, re flattened and then buffed to an almost glass finish

The paint prob adds about a ton to the weight of the car!

@ Geo : Thanks Geo. Well after hearing a totally mixed bag of what to use and what not to use i just went for the simplest kit which was the Qpe job. Im not mad into the whole big power scene i just wanted something with a bit of poke and was nice to drive so that fitted the bill for me. I was very impressed with it and it runs absolubtly perfect, sweet as a nut !

Heres a breakdown of what was involved in building it

Complete subframe and rear axel were bead blasted and repainted.
All wheel bearings replaced front and rear
All New Drilled and grooved G60 brake disks and calipers fitted
All new brake pipes fitted
Engine completely stripped and inspected then rebuilt
Corrado G60 pedal box, gearbox, and Short shifter fitted
Fully adjustable Koni coilovers fitted
All suspension rubber bushes inc antiroll bar bushes replaced
Schmidt 9x16" MLs(With colour coded centres) to be fitted with 215/35/16 Continantel tyres
Techtonics custom down pipe fitted to suit the Passat AWT Engine(Longitudinal) fitted
Custom Decat pipe made to mate up with full Remus exhaust system
New headlamps,Rear lamps and Fog lamps and Indicators fitted (All smoked)
New Top tint windscreen fitted
New Door Glasses (tinted)fitted
New Chromalux rear quarter and rear hatch windows fitted
New Genuine big bumpers front and rear with 16V Front splitter
New Door seals fitted
New Window rubbers fitted all round
New boot seal fitted
New Door slot seals and window channels fitted
New roof mouldings fitted (Exterior)
New shortened bee sting amplified fitted.
New complete G60 Wheel arch and door mouldings fitted inc side skirts
Two new genuine front G60 wings fitted
Rear hatch wiper Removed
Corrado VR6 interior Fitted (In progress )

Sat nav system custom fabricated into under ashtray cubby hole
42 Draft design Boost,Oil temp, Oil pressure gauges fitted along with AF gauge from Duo styling

Emm i think thats about it so far!

Not much left now Ronan.Another 2 weeks and it should be totally finished. Just a bit of tidying to do around the engine bay and small interior stuff , put the rims and bumpers on and thats pretty much it.
