hi folks,
im restoring a mk1 golf that i bought in august last year. the engine was busted and the interior needed a face lift as did the the body.

The day i bought it

i started out thinking that i would lift out the engine throw in a new one as quick as posable and clean up the body but one thing led to another and i decided on a complete respray. i want it as cheap so i stripped it completely leaving only the dash in place

Thanks guys, I hope to have it finished early the new year. I am keeping the 16V engine but not sure about keeping the colour?. I am going for a full re-spray and have the doors bonnet boot lid primed, so the colour is optional. the gold is growing on me though.

Att some more pictures of work complete. I have welded some new pieces in from a MK2. I got the rear quarter pannel for spare's from a good freind.

in the middle of the week off and have got gti driveshafts in. the two front two doors are complete and one of the back doors is finished. have just started to rebuild the bootlid and this is causing me some hastle as i didnt strip it my self and the bits for it are everywhere. hope to have bootlid back together by the end of week along with the last door and last bit of roof lining stuck on.
the engine is slow to come. having trouble with the wiring and getting my hands on the fuel lines. hopefully the mount will be welded in tomorrow or the next day,
will keep you posted

Good bit of progress there colton. Any luck with fuel lines? I have to get my hands on some too. Would be deadly if ya had it for the athlone meet but These cold nights dont help when your out in a garage!

no luck with fuel lines. johnny99 has them if you can get hold of him. i cant get my fuel lines out of him. there is a place in waterford that 98mk1 knows of but there more expensive but you might get them quicker from there.
a couple of fleeces and you'll be fine!!

Fuel lines are available in braided form from crazyquiff in UK.
