Mk2 track car has wide track mk3 16v setup.
For the laugh, tried the mk4 312mm setup on the front - and everything seems to fit.............

Is this right??

The only thing is the carrier is touching the back of the disk - Could this be sorted with a washer or two - or is it not recommended to put washers between carrier and stub axle?

Will 15" wheels clear the 312 brakes or would I have to go 16"??

With the wide track & 16" wheels on a mk2 and coilovers - its not really a good idea is it??

Geo, do you know if the 15" wheels will clear the calipers?
Is it a special spacer or 4mm washer do the job?

Anyone have any idea what the offset would be for the car with this setup??

Thanks Lads.
5mm washers it is so.
@vr6boy - if you could get me the part numbers when you have a chance.

With the 16" wheels, i'm proably going to be screwed when it comes to rubbing.
What size tyres should I use??

QUOTE (vr6boy @ Feb 21 2009, 10:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>5mm washers and a minimum of 16" wheels, 10mm longer carrier bolts than standard mk3 ones
I have part numbers for VW bolts can be used will need to dig the numbers out
Later 288mm calipers are the same as S3, TT, 312mm type but the caliper carriers are offset by 5 mm

Got 5mm spacers - perfect job.
Any chance of the carrier bolt part number. I'll be ready to final assemble the front end in the coming days.

What steel are the VW bolts made from? Would stainless steel bolts be stronger that VW ones - wouldn't want them to sheer or are the VW's toughned steel etc etc ??
