hi lads im just looking for another point of view. I have a 1.6gti mk1 and the inner cv on the passenger side(the short one) has gone,i took out the driveshaft and it looks like the shaft is too long and has been hitting the output on the gearbox. The end of the shaft has actually mushroomed a bit.(technical term?).I think a longer shaft has been used mabye off a mk2 if so is there anything other than a mk1 i can get a shaft off?

thanks in advance

oh ok its not the cv joint i think is moving its grand and is held by its circlip. But the end of the shaft has definatley come into contact with the output of the gearbox because you can see the marks on the output and the shaft, the end of the shaft has actually worn in so bad the cv wont slide off and the tip of the shaft is visibly bigger. Sorry if im not making any sense il try get a pic in a little while.
