Hi all
My brother has a 05 mk5 1.9tdi golf and the radio will turn on by its self usually when he has it locked when he is away from car. This is concerning him as some day he will return and battery will be flat. Anyone got any ideas on what is happening and how could it be fixed.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

I had one that did this as well never got it sorted but I think it is something to do with the Can-bus set up for the radio if you go onto one of the UK forums and do a search for Can-bus drain you might get some answers.

put a switch on it, so you can turn it on and off. and sort out all that messing. usually there will be 2 positive wires. one for the radio one for the memory of preset stations. just get a external switch on the power for the radio.

Vw already have a lovely switch installed on it! Try sort out problems rather than working around them what next insulation tape to cover warning lights homer style?

Is it a factory fitted radio or an after market jobbie?
