Just a quick warning to all that use this roundabout. The left hand lane of the roundabout heading North off the M50, is home to an almighty pot hole at the moment. I unfortunately hit it this evening, it was rougher than a Ryanair landing. It wasn't pleasant to say the least! It's going to do some serious damage! Be careful if you're up that way anyway.

I hear you Barry, As you know I come home this way and remembered it from yesterday ( Bang ) so slowed down only to get a guy in a fiat van behind me give me a mimed bollocking.
As he dropped down about a foot in my rear view mirror I got the last laugh.
I also saw the traffic cops on the middle space with three of the M50 trucks ( tippers ) changing tyres, they must have pulled them in for being below the legal thread depth.
Or if anyone knows different set the record straight.
Toe

So I hear! The brother complained about it there yesterday morning. The response was, "We've got a good few complaints about that actually". Still there this evening. Great work lads.

QUOTE (Alan B. @ May 19 2009, 10:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>cheers lad, i use that bit of road all the time.
havn't been up in dublin in a week but i'll be there on thursday. dont fancy hitting that by the sounds of it.

No bother Alan. I want to let as many people know about it as possible. Hopefully Tony sees this, I know he uses it everday like myself!

They need to get their sh1tin' finger out and fill it

It's an awful oul hole alright Tony! I'd a poor chap in a DB9 behind me, he hit it at a decent speed as well! They better have it sorted by tomorrow anyway! I highly doubt it though!

Those cuttings are all over the m50 slip roads, it's disgraceful the state they leave the roads in during the works. There is no excuse for it

Hit one of them the other week, slip road from the N3 to M50 North bound

The slip roads are an absolute joke at the moment. I really dont know how they get away with it to be honest. As you said, it's a disgrace.

Simple it's Ireland and they do what they want, they harp on about road safety....but that's just when it suits them for revenue collection

I say that everytime I hit a crater in the road. Makes it's very hard to hand over €500 in road tax every year.

There was on of those 'steps' on the M7 southbound out side the luas park and ride at the mad cow for months when they were working on the roundabout,it was a nasty piece of road!

Those steps are an utter pain in the arse. It' like having speed bumps on the M50.

Would it be an idea to pin a topic with all the major pot holes? Could save a few people the hassle of bouncing through inverted speed bumps.

Fair play Barry that's a good heads up you're giving people.

The sooner the M50 is finished the better as it can be a mini field of temp fixings which are just downright dangerous even at the recommended speeds.

Maybe we should have a "Roadworks" spotted thread.

I wouldnt want anybody else hitting it like I did Mike. I know there's quite a few members that use it too.

I think a Roadworks Spotted Thread would be very handy. Especially with the large amount of roadworks going on at the moment.

road works is causing more crap than anything else on the road, they seem to just pick a random spot and start working at rush hour?? WTF! Why can't they do it on the weekends, night time when there is no traffic? If we were to have a road works thread it would be never ending and probably a few thousand pages in a few days.. Lol

I was reading about how roadworks are undertaken in germany once, i was bored..

Basically, the job is put out to tender, and the candidates propose their prices. They are given a time limit to conclude the works.
A price is put on each road, so if a road is closed for a day its for example €10k. For every day under the job limit, the contractor gets a days pricing extra (10k for example) on top of their fee.

However, if a contractor is delayed/slow/lazy he gets charged for every day the road is kept closed or under maintanience, therefore he is down 10k each day of delays.

Proper order me thinks.
