That's only if it's availible in your area. I hear all this advertisment's on the radio, and it pisses me off that we can't get it. Up until 6 months ago we had 14 kps, slower than snail mail. We asked for another line for a fax, knowing there asw none availible, and eircom was legally obliged to supply a box on the wall, ran the internet connection on that at 48 kps.

Also are you based in longford town or out in the sticks?

I'm looking at getting broadband in carrick on shannon but a lot of companies still have to work there way up here (Smart telecom etc)

Longford town, TBH i think Longford is actually very lucky to have it and its been here a couple of years. Funny thing is just 5 miles from me people have the 14kps option

IOl is covered there, and for 30 euro you get 2mb.

Yup, Eircom wholesale did a major speed upgrade on the DSL backbone over the weekend. So whether, you're Nethop, IOL, Esat, Netsource or Eircom.net then you've automatically been upgraded.

Even upload speeds have been increased. The maximum DSL speeds are now 5MB download / 512k upload

the dial up here is absolutly shite

If the dial up is bad its unlikely the line is good enough for broadband.

Try this website www.getbroadband.ie it has what coverage you get and what options you have nationwide, it looks very good.

Does anybody know anything about the 2mb service from Digiweb, Imagine, BT and Eircom.

I was looking at Digiweb 2mb for €30 with free connection or 2mb with BT €15 for the first 4 months and €30 from then on, but it is €50 connection fee.

Is 2mb enough for just use at home??
