GTI Driver's Door Dent Repair: Can a Bodyshop Fix It Without Respraying?

Hi lads... I'm having a string of bad luck lately, and this morning I find some complete gimp dented the driver's door of my GTI lastnight, whilst parked outside A&E (I was getting a foot injury X-rayed!).

Anyway, I dunno how the idiot managed it, but its a small dent, about the size of a euro coin, right over the door handle on the door... so it's akin to having a boil on the top of you're nose, its that obvious

There's no paint damage at all strangely enough, just this little ding.

Anyway, I'm wondering what do people think the chances are a bodyshop will be able to pop it out without resorting to drastic action? Are they generally good at doing this type of thing? I don't know of any "dentmaster" type guys in the Galway area, and I've heard mixed reports on these types of guys anyway...

I'm popping out to a local bodyshop at lunch who did some work for me before... I'd be loath to having the door pulled off and resprayed...!

I spoke to dent master about a similar problem, they said they could sort out anything up to a 2 euro coin but it all depended on how close to a crease line, If its close to the handle they might not be able to do it, they were'nt able to do mine, it was vertually in the same place only on a passat

That's my fear... it is quite near the top of the door, maybe only an inch below the window line. Damn.

Could it have been the door of another car maybe something high like a 4x4?

HALFORD's
are offering small dent repair now I think - they have an 'expert' that go's about I think

Cheers lads... yeah, a total bugger! It must have been a jeep or similar alright, judging by the height of the dent. I wouldn't mind so much if it was the side rubbing strip, at least that would be easy enough touch up.

Ah well... I've spoken to the Dent man guy, doesn't cover my area unfortunately, though he gave me another guy to try... and I'll see what the local bodyshop says.

What sort of money would we be talking about to get a small dent like this sorted out??

Good news lads... I got a guy from Dent Magic to do a job on it this morning, and he got it out for me! Its still very very slightly there, but you'd really need to be looking hard for it with a microscope! It was like that episode of Fr Ted, with his set of hammers

So, I'm v pleased and it only cost me 60 notes. Happy days.
