Just wondering if anyone's been to check this beast out:

http://www.carzone.ie/search/Audi/S4/WAGON...rt?channel=CARS

I've been eyeing it up online for a while now but haven't been to check it out yet, has anyone seen it? Any reports?

I'd be down there in a flash except I'd have to get rid of my pride and joy first (which between you and me i've spent WAAAAAYYYY too much on in under a year). I emailed the dealer a few months back (the same day the car was listed, I was on it like a shot) but he said the price was cash only, no trade-ins, so i'd have to sell my car first, which is never fun. A straight swap would have been nice, but no joy

The other question is, should I go for it or not? Description of the work done to my car is in my signature thing...

[edit: the attached pics are of my car and sweet jesus i didn't think they were that big, sorry for crashing anyone's browsers...]

This one is only €2400 VRT.

Ha, yeah I know! That'd be pretty cool, but unfortunately I can't live with an auto, has to be a manual! Plenty of them on show at the mo though...

Nah, haven't been to see it yet, I'm scared that if I head up I'll never be able to live with my current car again till I have the v8! I'll wait till the end of January - have Christmas coming up, then the mother's, two sisters and my girlfriend's birthdays in Jan, then bloody Feb brings Tax, Insurance and NCT all in one, it's killing me at the mo having to save for all this shit. Once everything's out of the way then I'll start looking properly, I might passively put my car up for sale here in the interim if anyone's interested but still not sure.

@paddy_cl Yeah those M5's are damn tempting (nearly went to see the black one in Dublin on Donedeal), but I need an estate to throw all my music gear in, plus the 4wd would come in handy for snowboarding trips...

He's doing ok at 25 mpg. I researched and drove a number of RS4s earlier in year. Different beast I know but none of the cars didn't anything like 25. More late teens at best and every owner openly admitted that. I think if you're in country you have a good chance but step into any traffic and don't be surprised to see low figures. Also these cars need to be driven on. Yes the sound fantastic but their real beauty is the engine so you have to use it.

Yeah, might just do! Might take a day and go wander around...

QUOTE (Ptank @ Dec 2 2011, 12:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Its definatly worth a trip down. Seeing as you audi is pretty much standard too is a good thing and a car that would be a nice trade in for a garage to sell on again. The more standard kept A4s seem to hold their value more than the kitted ones

The dealer is most likely going to be thinking that he is trading one petrol Audi that he can't sell for another petrol Audi that he will also struggle to sell. Unfortunately thats the way the market seems to be...

Yeah, that's what i reckon too, plus dealers never do straight swaps (or at least i've never heard of it happening). Much as i hate the idea, I'll prob have to sell it on my own.

You have a nice few mods to your car already so you would prob be much better off selling to another entusaists. I could be wrong but the biggest stumbling block for me would be that your car isn't a Quattro...don't get me wrong it looks mint and nice mods...

Yeah, I knew it'd be tough to shift off from the get go for that reason! It's a great car, but the quattro would really sell it. I was actually gonna transfer the entire drivetrain from an RS4 into it recently enough, but I decided to just go for an S4 instead and get the added bonus of an estate. Know of anyone looking for a FWD A4? Ha!

RS4 drivetrain...now that would have been an interesting project? Did you price it up? Had you got donor parts lines up??

I think the RS4 has a proper rear-bias 4WD setup as opposed to the front biased ordinary ones

QUOTE (Ronan H @ Dec 4 2011, 11:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Doesn't the power ratio depend on what generation of the quattro system it is rather than what platform it comes from, i.e. gen4 was 50:50 (f:r) but gen5 is 40:60 (f:r)?

Dont know about that but the B7 RS4 had a 60/40 torque split rear to front where as the I think the B7 S4 had 50/50.

Yeah, pretty much. RS4 is 40:60 f:r and generally chunkier all round.

I got my brakes off a lad in galway, went out to his place and in his garage is an entire RS4 just sitting there! It's been rolled so the body is fooked, but the engine turns over and the drivetrain is fine. I was thinking of buying the whole job off him and then dropping both my car and the RS4 off to TDP for a few weeks to see what they could do, but tbh it's WAY easier and cheaper to just go for the S4.
