Drive shaft off your ARB?

arb??? its not even as low as wat it was before i changed them i had lowering springs in before the joms

 

arb=anti roll bar ya? would it be a banging noise tho if it was hitting that, sounds like its further up the line tho! im sick of it and cant face the hassle of stripping it again

Is the shock bottoming out? How low is your setup?

 

i have that same knocking noise but its on the drivers side, i replaced bottom arm, top arm, arb bushings, all needed to be replaced anyway, but still have rattle, car is nice and low so it is, but not crazy roll though!

 

get it checked out by someone who will know what it is, get a local mechanic to drive it and have a quick look, should find the prob easy enough

 

Top shock mount?

 

i had what sounds like the same noise with my joms ,i fixed it by doing the following, where the main spring and helper spring meet in the middle on the plastic spacer make sure that the two ends of the springs are on opposite sides of the plastic spacer,not on the one side meeting ..hope that makes sense lol it would be a lot easier to draw a diagram..

 

Sounds like a top mount, you did install it back in the correct order with all the parts??

 

I fitted a set at the weekend and have a small amount of banging on the front but im nearly sure it is the antiroll bar hitting the driveshaft.

ya installed it back the correct way its puzzling me cos i replaced all the top arms and bottom arms and the car isnt decked so the shock couldnt be bottoming out, so it could be the top mount, everyting is new bar the top mount and anti roll bar bushings

ya i cant picture wat ur on about without seeing it!!!, the jom's on the a4 dont have helper springs just a single spring, it could only be the top mount id say. fml

what are u driving how low is your car?

 

I'm having the same problem with my JOM setup, only fitted in Jan so now booked into get them checked out by Anto in Alloy Wheels tomorrow.

its head wrecking as it sound like they are going to pop out sometimes..

i'll let you know how i get on..

 

I'm having what sounds like the same issue. Really noticeable when going over speed ramps or hit a bump in the road?

Only got my JOM's fitted in November.

I was on to Keith and he said to bring it over and he'll take a look.

Be interested to hear how people get on with this or what the issue was?

Same noise here and that is even crawling over them.
I was meant to go up tomorrow but looks like Anto is out with his hand in a cast so i'll leave it till he's back.
I called up from Cork last Saturday but with Anto out the other lads could not isolate the extact reason for the banging.
Anto really like VAG stuff so i'm happy to wait for his return to get it sorted.
if it can't be fixed I'll be taking the out again as I need to feel confident with the car..

 

thanks for the replys lads, it must be an issue with the jom coilovers so, as everything else in new in the steering. its really frustrating, and i bought them off keith in alloywheels.ie got no c spanner with the coilovers said it to him over a week ago he said he would post them but no sign, so i bought coilovers so i can adjust the height but got no c spanner in the box and still havnt got one after i was told i would get one sent out to me. annoying to say the least

 

With a bit of luck he sort us out as he is great guy to deal with.

Any update on this lads?

I'm waiting for Keith to come back to call over to him.

It's driving me fu**ing insane with the banging noises on the front of the car. Also have had emissions workshop! fault show up on my dash, got it cleared and then it arrived back after hammering over a bad pothole.
