My mate picked up his at the weekend & man it has some spec. It's yellow, and sits on 19's with black leather wing back style bucket seats, they really are superb. The bolsters narrow in & widen out at the touch of a button to give extra support. It even has a cooler box in the glovebox!

All in all, it's a hugely impressive car. The noise from that V8 under full load is fantastic, I'd never heard a V8 before let alone get a spin in one. When the "sport" button is pressed a flange in the exhaust opens up & it sounds even louder. Full floating disks as well.

Granted, it only had 200 miles on it on Saturday and will open up much more but we both agreed that it's quick, but doesn't feel 420 Bhp quick at the min. I know you can't compare it to anything with a turbo cos the power delivery is smoother but he reckons his Evo FQ 340 would have the legs on it. Maybe it's just because the power in the Evo comes in with such a sudden thump that it feels quicker, but isn't actually quicker. Audi quote a 4.8 sec sprint to 60 for the new RS4 so it should certainly be able to sit on a FQ 340's tail. No doubt it will open up as the miles go on it.

My jaw dropped when he told me the duty on the thing is €37,500!!!

I'll post up a pic within the next couple of days.

Saw a nice navy one outside La Rousse Foods in parkwest yesterday looked the business.

afaik, the boys in blue have one on trial.

There is a 06 D blue RS4 doing the rounds in Tralee at the moment - saw it a few times in the last few days. Possibly a holiday home owner down here I suppose - but many of the high spec cars down here are never registed as KY cars - all to do with resale value - so he may be local.

I got a drive from Richard Bremner in one when I went to test drive his alfasud.
Image
It was an all to short drive but I could feel the class of the car. When I went to collect the Alfasud a week or two later though he arrived to collect me in a peugeot 307.
Image

I was however shocked by the price of the RS4 when I came back here - even on carzone it said they were just a little over €100,000 ???.

Still - its a hell of a lot of money to fork out for what is at the end of the day just a four door Audi A4.

All that spec is wasted in a hundrum saloon car.

That would be my car - One of two of them that I have and I am Local - I'd rather spend the money
on car(s) rather than a holiday home.

FYI - then only common panels on the car between an A4 and an RS4 are the roof skin and the two
front doors !!

It has incorporated a host of features previously unseen in your normal ' Humdrum saloon car'.

If you actually drove one you would not pass the comment 'just a four door A4'.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing ...

100k while a lot of money - there is no car as reliable, undetrstated that matches the performance,
handling, refinement, build quailty, sound and engine characteristics of this car.

I reserve comment on the 'humdrum saloon car'.

Some people try to be a'Holes for others it comes naturally !

Some people are at home in an Alfa others may not like them but I don't see the reason in
branding them as you have - Garda.

Wish you the very best with your RS4, amazing machine...

I believe that the comments to Alfaguy were not very nice, the less flaming and direct confrontation that we have on these forums the better for everyone...

Whatever you are having yourself - interaction did not involve you - perhaps you had better - keep
your head out of every one elses ass....Comments were in response to someone elses misguided
remarks ..... I believe point was taken onboard,,, however others seem to want to stir it up..

no further comment ... keeping it neutral from now...

I don't see the reason for you to fight fire with fire as Alfaguy was giving his opinion and if you read the post he made properly you would have read,

"I got a drive from Richard Bremner in one when I went to test drive his alfasud. cool.gif"

There is no place for attacks on peoples opinions on this site!

Welcome aboard!

The listed BHP for the Irish car is 420BHP (preproduction models had 414BHP) the VLC (logbook)
leaves no room for imagination.Says- Model:Audi RS4 Quattro 6sp 420BHP.

These are good enough links to specs.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...89/pageId=98163

I had the wheel off one of them - believe me it is only then you realise how large the brakes are.

Brembo 8pots - 365mm front discs - 34mm disc depth - 12mm inner disc,12mm Vent Gap & 10mm
outside disc.Listed 0-100Kph is 4.8s but they have been getting 4.3s in independant tests.Loads of vids
out there..

Have seen all colours in the flesh except 'black' - I bet it looks king ?

Maybe this is a silly Q, but, why would you have 2 RS4s?

OK just to clarify - I didn't say the RS4 was a humdrum car -

QUOTE(Alfaguy)I got a drive from Richard Bremner in one when I went to test drive his alfasud. It was an all to short drive but I could feel the class of the car

The RS4 is an amazing vehicle and I would love to own one but as you say me being just a Garda my resources are not as big as yours and so I have to make more limited car purchasing decisions. One of the first things I did was to check the RS4 price when I came back from the UK and was expecting it to be in the €70,000 - €80,000 range - but to my dissapointment it was over €100,000.

I simply then posted what my own reaction was when I seen the price - for me going over the €100,000 tag would slot my mind into Porsche territory - and to me Audi lost a bit of a chance to really make a unique car by copying an A4 (as you say all the body panels are new except the roof) when they could have made a car in the same vein as the Merc CLS for instance.

That's just my opinion - it was not intended to rubbish your RS4's and I hope you get full enjoyment out of them and trade them in locally in about 5/6 years so that I might get a chance to own one - keep the mileage below 50,000 though.

It is silly! Have you never been in the garage and can't decide which of the two different coloured cars you want to buy? To avoid all confusion you just buy both.........its alot easier.

I couldn't afford the wheels of one.

Ok - enough said about that - I will salute you the next time I see you in your cab !

Got a bit annoyed with comments (as is fairly obvious). Its good to see that motors can stir up
the emotions though - I think we would all agree.

Mileage will indeed be low in a few years time. Give a call up at some stage !
