SOLD

As most of you might know, this car was for sale on here until recently for €11,000.
Then one of the people interested in the car found that the car was registered as a CAT C in england(I had HPI done but detail didnt show at the time I purchased) so I halted trying to sell.

Now I'm back to sell it, I obviously cant sell with out highlighting that the car was a CAT C and without dropping the price.
I bought the car not being aware that any work was done so I dont have any paperwork for the repairs.

Due to what's outlined above I've had to dramatically review my selling price, I'm loosing big money on the car but still need a 4dr car.

We had no idea of the history untill the proposed buyer informed us => This is still a very clean, good driving, 06 Golf for very little money,

**********************************************************
*Bad Points:
* 1) one blemish on the car is a little bit of surface rust on drivers front wheel arch
* screw holding in the inner molding got a little tap of the pursuader to stop it rubbing the tyre
* the little tap drove the screw into the inside of the arch lip and cracked the paint in a spot => causing a bit of rust
* 2)Slight overspray on the dash vent on driverside
* 3)Obviously the fact that it is a CAT C

**********************************************************

The car is a nice smooth drive, does on average 550miles on a tank of diesel.

Cat C is not a badly damaged car AFAIK.

GTI rear, GTI skirts and some 18's and that would be one sweet looking car!

Probably not an issue as the pricks will do anything to avoid paying out anyway. As long as the car keeps everyone inside intact who gives a toss really about cash eh!

Fair play for your honesty, many would say nothing. What goes around comes around, I hope some good fortune comes your way soon.

Cat C is the least damage economic write off?

I could have sold it without saying, but buyer would have 6months to come back looking for their cash back.... so false economy i thinks

Second step on the damage ladder I think

What a sickener for you

There is no comeback with a private sale so you wouldn't have had to do that.

You should get back on to the garage where you bought it not sure if you would get anywhere pity you didn't do ful hpi check .
Edit: sorry didn't know u got it private.

Cat c:The car has been involved in an accident and deemed un-economical to repair by the insurance company. The owner then buys back the car off the insurance company and repairs it, re-registers it and sells it on. All perfectly legal.

QUOTE (Shaun @ May 20 2010, 11:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Cat C is not a badly damaged car AFAIK.

Category A covers vehicles that have been completely destroyed, and are only useful for sale as scrap metal. This category yields the lowest value to the insurance company, and will thus yield the lowest payoff to you.

Category B is assigned to vehicles which have suffered irreparable damage and cannot be driven again, but that possess parts and components that can be sold in addition to the vehicles' scrap value. Category A and B vehicles should never reappear on the road.

Category C covers vehicles that can be repaired and driven again at an expense that is greater than the present value of the vehicle. Vehicles in this category yield a significantly higher value than those in categories A or B, since the insurance company has more resale options available. The vehicle can be sold at auction as it is, or it can be stripped and sold for components and scrap metal.

Category D write-offs are for vehicles that could be repaired in an economically feasible way, but are not repaired for specific reasons, such as the lack of availability of replacement parts or the cost of a rental car.

Sold indeed.

Apologies to any one who feel they lost out.

@GEO,

thursday you said you'd come down this eveing to look at the car, when you said this I was not able to meet today.
I then told you this morning that you had first refusal on the car as you were first to make contact.

later today then I got some-one to mind my 10week old son so was now free this eveining.
I then got contacted buy red_diesel, who was coming down with an amount of cash that would buy the car.
At this point I had no access to the internet and no phonenumber for you , so I couldnt let you know of the change in circumstances

I appreciate you're not please about this but this is how things unfolded toda

QUOTE (Geo @ May 21 2010, 09:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>You are damn right I'm not pleased about it. Do you not know the meaning of the term first refusal?

I also don't like when people hang up the phone on me. It's a pretty rude thing to do.

that all depends on how much of a rant the caller is on though

Look man, I'm not the type to bear a grudge so I won't hold it against you or anything but I do feel hard done by in this instance.

I've sold enough cars in my time to know there are a lot of timewasters out there and that holding onto a car for someone can often come back to bite you.

But in this case you told me you weren't free until tomorrow evening for me to look at the car. I originally wanted to go down this evening but you were the one who put it off until tomorrow. Then you told me I had first refusal as I was first person to contact you about it.

So to find out that the car was sold this evening when it was your idea to have me wait until tomorrow to go view it really pissed me off to be honest.
