Any pointers Dan to people considering a trip?

How to get there? Dos and don'ts? Accommodation options etc?

Well Mike, Flying there you have to get a connecting flight through London to Klagenfurt, but when the Klagenfurt flights where stopped we went by Graz by train but it was very long, I think you can also fly to Italy & get the train up.

From Klagenfurt its only a taxi or bus ride or you can rent a car.

For accommodation you need to book in December, I am still in contact with the Guest House & camping owner so we always stay with him.

Guest house is nice, but if ya want a real feel for the show and atmosphere defiantly camp better craic too.

now as for when you go over, you can go a week earlier to see all the good cars as some go before the parting starts, its not too
bad from the official date but as it goes on it gets mental with drinkers.

I think we will try go a bit earlier next year but on the other hand it might not work with the flight times & dates

with cheap flights & camping it really doesn't take much cash, its also cheap enough there regards to food & drink just buy it in the supermarket

So you'd recommend going?
Do you know the story with what tickets are needed?
And yeah was having a look on google maps there its about 2000km which google maps says is 23 and a half hours driving. Looks straight forward enough, motorways the whole way. Did you drive everytime u went?

Also, it's a slight different route, but only about 150km extra, if you wanted to go via nurbergring!

tickets can be pre ordered online, although we had issues with them not been posted out to us due to no postcode and had to ollect there instead

are you gonna drive across england and get the tunnel or ferry from rosslare into france?

#23 ·
Probably drive across england and get the tunnel Orla. Is that what u did?

Sorry about the ignorance now but the tickets everyone is talking about, are they for general admission into the show, or to show a car, or for camping or what?

#24 ·
i went as a passenger with mycroft and Dieseldave and went across england, got the tunnel and then across france, germany etc

Worthersee is not like a venue with a show it is quite literally a village/small town, tickets give you access for both you and your car into the village, cars are parked up everywhere and even if you never got a tiket into the place with all the traffic passing by you would miss nothing, most people bring a camping chair, sit by the side of the road and watch the cars go by or down at the roundabouts at night and petrol stations
as for camping i dont know as we hotelled it

VWdan is who i would contact regarding camping and mycroft regarding which route to take etc

As orla said t's not a show and shine event.....

No prizes etc..... The main area where the Vw, Audi, Seat stands etc are is where you need the tickets for the main dates, alot of people go the week before the main dates or a few days after the the main dates.....reason being the better cars are there them times, I didn't go there around the main dates, i was there the days before and was crazy busy with awesome cars, i found the other vilages, car parks, filling stations way way better in terms of everything and so relaxed, If ye are driving ye will be ok, ye will need the car for all the driving to the different areas during day and night....

If anyone is flying hire a car, ye will need it and enjoy it better.....

I plan to go again next year, fly or drive i don't know, but some day i will drive it......

When i was there the weather was fab and food it top notch to...

myself eoino and robbie went last year, we got the ferry to france and drove to the ring and then on to worthersee, we spent a week there and then drove back to the eurotunnel and across england, next time id take something more economical we went through 12 tanks of petrol in the Rs4 so about 900 euro to do 3000 miles
