Who is running 17's on their mk2?

I have a set i'm toying with putting on my golf.

Any issues i should be aware of? Will i need to cut mt arches?

satan, gary glitter, ude hussein, idi amin, ayatollah khomeini to name but a few run 17's on their mk2's..........

you prob would need to cut or severley roll the arches to get the car looking any way low!

I had my arches/trim cut for 16's at about -40 drop once and it was a pig to drive. Not only that but on full lock youll do wreck on the wheel wells.

What wheels are you thinking about? 17's tend to be like marmite, love it or hate it and no inbetween.

I've driven a few mk2s on 17s yrs back and there were mostly a rigid extra bumpy noise bad handling drive, granted some looked the mutz nutz but personally I would take handling over looks...

Though depending on what your doing I can see a need for bigger wheel and maybe track widening with say a highly tuned 18t, vr6t etc but I reckon it be a lot more work that arch rolling to have a decent handling set up.. Unless its just straight line speed ie drag racing, as 17s feck up standard mk handling IMO

depends if you want a nice et. slow driving or solid shocks are needed

we had azevs on a jetta but cant find the pic

i had 17's on a mk2 a few yrs ago, didnt do any arch mods with 40mm drop,

Looked well, but wouldn't do it again, car was rock solid..
