Taught id start a thread so that people can post up what they do and are fairly handy at so that maybe if a fellow member was stuck they would know who to ask.

I'll kick it off. Im a maintainance fitter. Can fabricate anything with metal. Specialise in TIG welding (stainless steel, aluminum and light mild steel), fairly good with pneumatics. Well able to machine (mill work, lathe work) but dont have the machines at home. Be looking to buy them in the near future tho. Dont even mention anything electrical to me because i just cant grasp the lingo. As far as im concerned, volts, amps, hertz, ohms are all the same thing only completely different

So if anyone round the midlands wants anything done id be more than happy to help.

Technical writer and editor. Work with a wide range of subject matter from life sciences to computer software. Currently on 'sick leave' till later in the year. Work mostly freelance. My customer list includes; Hitachi, Olympus, Roche, TECAN, Eircom, Valista, ABS Pumps, and several smaller software houses.

Given the number of contacts I've received in past 90 days recruiters are looking for writer/editors. Hope that trend continues till October.

Im a Proces Control & Automation Engineer. Basically I code up the PLC's and HMI's (human machine interfaces - computers) to control process's and production lines.

Not much benefit to cars though

mind you have a fair understanding of how an ECU works i.e. the logic behind it. Fairly handy with electrical/electronics.

I'm a team leader on an IT helpdesk for one of the leading grocery retail chains in Ireland.

Looking to start a motor engineering(beginner) course in september so I can do more than just handing spanners to the (mechanic) brother in law on my days off.
