ok so got a gti grille fitted....wired the inners into the back of the headlights...without an independent fuse or relay......doh!.....its all disconnected now anyway but.......my electrics ore f**ked.....when i turn the wipers or lights or blower on they dont work at all.........the only things that work at this stage is the side lights.......but when i press and hold in the full beam....everything works again....then when i leave go it all stops....now when i do this there is a crackling noise from the fusebox........whats happened?...whats after melting??
before i disconnected the inners when i had the fulls beam on i noticed abit of smoke coming up through the dash....thats when i disconnected everything.
heres a video demonstration!

i had to re-wire an awful lot of my mk2 in the last two weeks. once the fuse box is pulled down and the dash lifted up a bit I replaced one loom at a time, not a bad job really, very time consuming tho

only thing that annoys me was it would of been completely avoidable, someone took a wire cutters to my electrics during the respray

lucky i read this thread, i was going to do the exact same thing!
im just cleaning up the gti grill and lights i got from Paul and planning on fitting them when it stops fecking raining.
can i hook the inner lights up as front fogs? the lights themselves are wired up together with a connection at the end. will the wiring/fuses be there for them?
im not 100% but from memory i might only have rear fogs...
car is a 88 CL 1.6 if that helps

What problem are you having? The inner spots are relayed, the stalks are mk3 items, the board wires are perfect and the loom from headlight switch is is perfect nick.
Actually, you took out the inners dident you? I take it you dident fit higher wattage bulbs to the outers?
