Im not sure what is considered 'rare' here.
TBH there are some parts which arent even that 'scrace' but command a price; mk1 opening quarter light windows and 'chrome grille trim' seem to command a price...
...I have plenty of tat, in terms of random car parts accumulated over the years, but a lot of it is pretty worthless, despite being scarce... a 'miller' spotlamp/foglamp with a chrome 'nipple' in the middle, and one that looks just like it but isnt a 'miller' lamp; everything else I have stashed is pretty undesirable'...

 

I won an ebay auction for the xenon headlights off a Polo 6n2 prototype. The guy selling them welshed on the deal though, as someone else offered him more after the auction. Sickened at the time, but it cost me nothing

Haven't really got much myself. My VW Ancora wheels are long out of production and took months to find. I do have the only Polo / Golf mkIV with autodimming outside mirrors AFAIK. Had my moment in the sun on vwvortex with that one

 

I have a golf g60 engine with rallye block and intercooler too.

My mk2 leather rear bench has headrests which seemed to puzzle a lot of people at gti international.

I also have a crossflow new beetle head to fit a g60, hardley counts though.

Have a genuine 1960's derrington inlet manifold for my mini which is apparently fairly rare.

 

jeez paul there has to be some rare stuff on that mini you have at mine?

have valver on r1 carbs and rally cams?

i DID have a NA 1.3 which shat all over gti's....thats rare

oh and my mk2 has a full black leather recaro interior from a beamer......thats rare in a mk2 golf!

 

I don't know what rare really means either.

They aren't huge money but I guess they are things I liked and wanted to get so rare to me but not necessarly rare to others if that makes any sense. Sometimes just some nice small bits you were looking for turn up.

The things I like and were somewhat hard to get include

Brand new in wrappers Eibach MK2 front upper strut brace

Votex center console

Brand new Votex MK2 rear upper spoiler

Zender Turbo alloys

Rear post van guards

Rocco 16v polished inlet manifold

I like electric Recaros too

 

...I forgot; I have a mk1 GTI Revcounter recalibrated for Diesel operation, Including 'new 'ammended for diesel reading' face' for it; which I have yet to print out... thats pretty rare as I got a guy in the uk to recalibrate it for me....

 

I have a genuine rallye front end. Thats rare'ish these days I suppose.

 

Out of curiousity how "rare" is chromalux glass, its in my 20v but i never really cared for it, prefer hapiach and clear glass.

you jammy son a bit## lad where did you gat the ottinger engines.i tried buying one off my mechanic a few years back no way not for love or money would he sell did you get them out of w cork.i`ve got zender turbo1,genuine big bumpers and lhd g60 syncro,i know it not parts but its rare.

and new electric mirrors.i had the stainless steel covers for the booth aswell only didn`t realise how hard they were to find and fitted them to my mk2 van berfore selling it,ah hindsights a great thing.
