Well all was just wondering what could I do to get a bit of power from a 1.9d vento without loosing too much mpg...

any ideas on what i can do?

is it possible to turbo it maybe?

injectors?

pump?

Cheers in advance

you could shim out the govenor inside the pump, along with 'more air' - an induction kit/filter, and turning up the fuel for some extra oomph; fuel consumption will go right up, but it will be a tad quicker - no real noticeable difference in top end TBH.

Another alternative is to 'pillage' an AAZ for its pump and low pressure turbo (ko3) - if you look in 'parts for sale' J.LYONS (i think...) had an AAZ for parts; had a crank problem, so would be an ideal parts donor...

it should be if you check the back of the block near the rear driveshaft and see if 1.9D/TD is on the block

Hi there.
Won't have td stamped on block afaik. Only 1.9d
Absolutely pointless screwing pump etc on a n/a.
You should be able to fit td pump and turbo and exhaust and inlet mani with relative ease.
this would give you 30-40% increase in power.
All said, you'd fit a td setup handier than modding your current setup.
Cheers

Well man sorry for the delay been busy lately ill get back to you tomorrow about those bonnet lifters

Yeah it is stamped on my 1.9d block anyway but maybe there is a diff in the 96 and 98 ones??? so a gtd pump turbo and exhaust would bolt straight on too yeah??
if the aaz stuff fits is it an inlet and exhaust manni, turbo, oil lines, and possibly a sump??? am i missing anything??

i no it would be way easier to get a td but no fun in that

Cheers for info lads

the oil drain off for the turbo on an AAZ is on the lower part of the block; to get round this, you could use a 1.6TD/GTD sump and drain line, and to make life even easier, a turbo off a 1.6td/gtd...

or, if you can weld, you could 'add' an oil drain off tube (and 'fitting') to the present sump to facilitate the oil drain off line for whatever turbo you intend to use......

So that's all that needed is:

Td fuel pump
Turbo
Td sump
Td inlet and exhaust manifold
Oil lines

If I got a full td engine out of a mk3 golf is it a matter of just lifting old out and dropping new in or will I need to make changes for Td engine (anything at all)?

or if i got a TDI engine is it a matter of just lifting old out and dropping new in or will I need to make changes for Td engine (anything at all)?

@Quinncey cheers man!!
