Very nice not jealous about you boys with your annis at all!!

What was the milage on her? All the RC's in good nick? Did you find it on piston heads or UK MKIV's? Any plans for a remap? No other mods required after that Annis are perfect stock.

lovely car.
only thing i'd change is the badge. id have gotten rid of the GTI badge quicker then the golf one.
it'll always be a golf but will never be a GTI.
debadged front and rear would be nice and subtle and wouldnt make you look like you where trying to imitate a 1.8t gti with a base model 1.9tdi as so many people seem to try and do.

Looks like a real good example, best of luck with it!

Alloys look in good nick alright, are they the originals do you know?

Keep the GTI badge, VW deemed it fit to use and anybody with half a brain cell will know its not your normal Derv.

Well wear anyway

Thanks for all the comments lads!

@Plane: Common to VAGdrivers anyway or compared to 6months ago!

@RAy: She'll be going onto a Cork plate, like.

@JKay: Yep its worth it in the end, you making the trip to fermoy?

@GTIAnniversary1546: Too true, still its crazy that i can think of 3 other Anni's, all silver, within 30mins of home in cork, for a limited edition car that wasn't even sold over here!

@wack: 55k on the clock, which is nothing! Found her on autotrader.co.uk, saw it and rang the guy literally within an hour of him putting it up for sale! RC's are good, 2 slight scuff marks but nothing major. Wont be mapping her anytime soon, just do some small bits like Bora vents, TT aerial, Fabia wiper, maybe some Hella smoked indicators, and then sort out the handling with ARB's and braces.

@liamO: Cheers liam, gotta get her cleared first!
Image

@Declan: Yeah it was a bit of bother trying to get the guy to keep the car for me while i got the money together, plenty english lads looking for clean anni's too! Do you have a MkV wiper on yours? Im leaning towards a Fabia one.

@Alan B: I gather your part of the "Its not a GTI unless it does 25MPG" brigade?
Image
I, obviously enough since i bought one, think VW were spot in making a GTI thats you can actually drive around in and put actual milage on without breaking the bank and of course the PD150's ain't slow either!
Image

@C-Mac: No they're the sprayed silver replacement ones, i thought they would look worse, duller, but really they're grand and RC's are hard enough to keep clean as it is without them being chrome!

QUOTE (C-Mac @ Aug 6 2008, 01:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I only like the GTI on the Anni Diesels. Any other model even a normal PD150 looks a bit odd. The extras of the anni set it apart and it deserves to have the naming on it.

I have to agree, VW UK went a bit too far with sticking GTI badges on the back of PD150's but the real question people should be asking is why VW didn't try harder to make the 1.8T normal GTI's stand out from their derv brothers?
People get all worked up about it but in reality a highline PD150 has the same brakes, interior, exterior, BHP and a pretty close suspension setup to a 1.8T 150BHP GTI!

QUOTE (Declan @ Aug 6 2008, 02:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yep MKV one on mine - I'll show you at Fermoy
Fabia one is a pain as it has to be cut becasue of the Anni spoiler

Cheers, i didn't cop any potential issue with the spoiler i just liked the way the fabia arm covers the wiper blade while the MkV one leaves it exposed but then i suppose thats the problem isn't it!

I think we should have our own corner in fermoy too!

QUOTE GTI 20th Anniversary Edition (2003)

Volkswagen GTI 20th Anniversary Edition
Volkswagen GTI 20th Anniversary Edition InteriorFollowing the initial commemorative anniversary edition GTI produced in Europe in 1996 celebrating the introduction of the GTI model in 1976, and the overwhelming popularity of the 25th anniversary edition GTI produced 2001 (known as the GTI 337 in North America when released in 2002), Volkswagen of America produced 4,200 so-branded "20th Anniversary Edition" GTIs and 4000 were shipped to the United States and 200 to Canada. This event, in 2003, marked the 20th anniversary of the GTI's first introduction to the U.S. and Canadian market, some 7 years after the GTI was introduced to the European market. Several special features distinguish this new GTI from the rest of the pack.

On the outside, the 20th Anniversary edition came with throwback red-lettered GTI logos on the left front and right rear. The rear was also accompanied by a vintage-look chrome rabbit. Blackened headlights added a distinctive look, while Votex front, rear, and side skirts along with a hatch spoiler and special edition 18" OZ Aristo alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sports complete the exterior transformation. These models were produced only in three colours: Imola Yellow, Jazz Blue and Black Magic Pearl. Distribution of production was 50% Black magic pearl, 25% Jazz Blue and 25% Imola Yellow.

Inside, a few accents were noticeable. Unlike other models, there were no options offered. The only true option was ESP, Volkswagen's stability control feature. All "20ths" had a sunroof, black headliner, golf ball shift knob, black leather steering wheel with silver stitching, black leather shifter boot with silver stitching, preforated leather covered hand brake handle, and sporty black cloth Recaro bucket seats with silver stitching accents and red GTI emblems embroidered in the middle of the back rests. Aluminum trim came standard, complete with a numbered nameplate above the center console identifying the exact production number (US production only) of the vehicle. Volkswagen's premier 8-speaker Monsoon stereo system was also standard.

Mechanically, the 20th Anniversary Edition GTI is nearly identical to the GTI 337 Edition. A 6-speed manual MQ350 transmission marked the most notable departure from the norm, and upgraded suspension stiffened up the ride and lowered the car approximately 30 mm (uprated springs and shocks, increased sway bar diameters, and revised bushings in the rear). Upgraded disc brakes front (12.3" vented rotors) and rear (10.3" vented rotors) helped bring things to a stop, while red powder-coated calipers added a bit of flair to the package.

Starting in 2002, all of the models of the GTI's 1.8T increased in horsepower from 150bhp to 180bhp.

The MK4 Golf 25th Anniversary was introduced in 2002 to mark 25 years of Golf production. The MK4 Anniversary comes with either the 1.8T engine with 180BHP or the 1.9PDi engine with 150BHP. Available as a 3 door only and in just 3 colours, 1800 are being sold into the UK. The car looks identical to the 337 version sold in the US although the US version is lower spec inside.

Key features » 18" BBS RC rims with 225/40 18 tyres. Red brake calipers. Lowered sports suspension. Votex body kit. Chrome exhaust tailpipe (1.8T). Recaro seats in Le mans cloth with GTI Recaro logo. Alloy gearknob. Alloy pedals, Aluminium dash trim. Red detailing on seat belts, steering wheel and handbrake. Gamma headunit and 6cd changer. 25th Anniversary numbered plaque.
