I'm setting up the timing on a pg engine,do i set it up at the tdc on the flywheel or the other mark which i think is 6btdc? the bentley manual is a bit confusing on 13/5 on the manual its says do not use tdc then on the same page it showing tdc ,so which is it?

good stuff george thanks, it had been set up before from the notch visible thru the gearbox ,but when i took the engine out + had taken the gearbox off ,only then could i see it was set up on the 6 degree mark cos the 0 mark wasn't visible thru the hole in the g/box.How much of a difference would it have made anyway?thanks again.
I have seen loads set wrong like that. It means it will more than likely be a tooth out on cam timing.
