I'm not looking for a drawing or design just a general premise that I can expand on myself. I just keep coming up blank for some reason. There is no harm in getting opinions from other people and I'm sure there are plenty of people on here with a tattoo or 2 that might give me an idea that sparks something gets the ball rolling for me. Thats the whole reason for the post.

Ya I have 3 tattoos already. A Roy Varga pin up on my leg, stars and flames on my right forearm and a memorial for my uncle on my left forearm.

Personally I'd go for some designed script in a foreign language like Kanji or old Norse or really old Irish then you can lie about it's meaning if you don't like what it says anymore....

 

who gives a fuck what it means, just liking the image is enough.
have a look through his online album, see what he is good at, see what he likes tattooing and if its something you like, tell him to run with it.

if you're not getting a "Dan Smith Tattoo" then you'd be as well off waiting till you know what you want and going to a normal artist that wont charge you over the odds because of who he is.

from a quick look at his website, i wouldnt be keen to get something by him myself, a lot of it seems like generic flash stuff which i've never liked, very flat, 2D looking with very basic shading and little to no depth about it.
but if ya see something in it then give him a rough outline of where you want it, how big, and tell him to design something. he is the artist after all, not you.

the dublin tattoo convention is on in the rds on saturday, why not take the trip up and look around, you might get some ideas

 

Best thing often for tattoos is something meaningful like a certain date or symbol. Quotes can always be good, song lyrics if your into music.

This is what im getting done soon. Up the side of my chest along my ribs, sorest place to get a tattoo id say but i like it.
Im big into music and as stubborn as a mule so this suits me.

 

a vr6 or r32 engine plan drawing on your back or chest , keeping it VAG all the way

 

a syncro mesh gearbox cross plan on your chest
