Why dont you test drive them, and then post up here what you make of the car?
Its not as if the site is like some kind of big brother that guide you to the exact car of your dreams

Quick edit here.. jsut noticed GaryO has this....

Well for a start i just saw this now online!

Secondly the price has just come down by about 2 or 3 grand

Thirdly the garage is closed right now!

Fourthly the roads are pretty shit so opening it up is out of the question

Fifthly i wrote a similar thread about the 1.4 and got a resoundin no

So if a few people who have this car or have driven this car think yeah thats a good car yeah thats a good price then i may take it for a test!

Dont get all outta shape on me there!

This thread is on the back of a thread i wrote about a 1.4 i was looking at with low mileage and it was a 2006 from a garage with a guarantee for 9995

Every post that i got on here was again a resounding no

Who's getting out of shape?

Agree with Glenn, sportline has some nice extras compared to trend or comfortlines.

Sorry Dermot, that post might have come across a bit heavy. Im trying to encourage you to go out and get a good personal feel for the cars your thinking about buying. Its very hard to get a definitive reflection of any car from the site in the respect you seem to expect.

And Sportline is factory lowered by 15mm
Image
. It also has better seats and silver interior trim. Mine came with centre armrest and fogs too but i think that might've been an extra that the guy before me got when he ordered his car.
Dermot, buy a car you feel comfortable with, not a car you think people want you to buy.

Well to be honest i was looking to buy a 06 1.4 golf and i posted that i took it for a test drive it was mint looking and drove nice on the test drive, but it was a 1.4 so i asked people on here to get some feedback and it got alot of hits and posts to say youll regret getting a 1.4

Also take into consideration that i dont let this site make the final decision for me when it comes to buying a car, there are alot of posters on here with experience of driving these particular models and i just want to see what they think.

After i am just messing round on the internet i suppose!

Wouldn't buy Jons, Sure the pics are all photo shopped to make it look good

Driven 1.4 and the 1.6, 1.6 was nicer think the power band was a lil different, nice for just tipping around lil nicer on the open road to. Seemed slow to me but i was coming from a 130 TDI at the time. The car i drove were both comfort lines and their not all bad, As said sport lines are that bit nicer, HTH

I know you want petrol but I still say buy a diesel, you'll get twice the mileage from a tank, nicer to drive and easier to sell on, service costs are about the same so really worth the extra few quid, At least test drive one before making your mind up on the 1.6 to see.

This is the type of feedback i was looking for i suppose!

I dont particularly want to buy a petrol its just a case of whats available near me from a garage that will take my golf as scrappage, This car i looked at before christmas and it has dropped at least two grand, it looks nice and has low mileage,

Auto boland in waterford had a few diesels but i dont know if they dropped in price i will have a look now and see!

Obviously as i said before like! only jokin that was my roy keane impression,

Nah the weather was a bit nasty in waterford so ill wait a bit,

They just reduced the price so id say thats as low as its goin

You can alway's get a bit more off

.

The car you are looking at now is much better, colour coded, alloy's, better paint. If I was looking for a 1.6 Mk5 I would probably get it.

well if your not scrapping a car with them then you dont get the 2000 off and it ud be 12!

Im still not sure to be honest. It would mean takin out a loan for that price, new baby on the way though and id like a little more security on those long journeys!

In my pros and cons list im like

Pro, new reliable saw car,

Con taking a loan out for 10500

Ah its really bedtime talk i suppose eh!

How ya gettin on dermot, bit of feedback hear for ya used to have a 1.4L sportline black 5dr lovely car but used to eat the petrol. Its quite a big car for such a small engine.
If I was you I would either look at that 1.6 and do abit of bargaining or else have a look at this:

Gt tdi

Before you say anything I dont even no the guy, but if it was my money I'd be buyin a diesel and this one is at a nice price with a nice spec ta booth.

Yeah i was gettin a bit criticised at the start of the post like just take it for a f..kin test drive,

wanted a bit of feed back before i get imbroiled in that manditory salesman spiel that gets thrown in when ye take a car for a test drive, That car i gave the link to is a 1.6 by the way!

A diesel would be nice but sure i was trynna stay local enough and there arent that many to be found, This garage actually had two but they seem to have gone very sharpish! they had about 6 newish golfs in total before xmas and now theres this left which has been reduced by about 2 grand

Ya I see where ur comin frm, but the reason the car took a hit was because its another yr older. Just because its reduced doesnt mean its a bargain. Its a buyers market these days so go in take it for a test drive and try work out a deal...if you dont like it walk away 9/10 times the salesman will ring u back with a better deal...they know sales are very slow at the minute and would be glad to get little comission rather then none.
As for the diesel, waterford to Cork isnt a huge distance by any means. But its up to you in the end of the day.
IMO the diesel is streets ahead, more bang for your buck nd think of the savings on fuel. Thats my 2cents anyway. G'luck with whatever you decide.

I went to the same garage today and they have a 1.9 TDI for 14000 and 12000 with scrappage silver nice condition 5 door with 83,000 kilometres

We shall see, i have a few bills to clear and then i have to really do my sums and see is it worth takin a loan out for!
