If they break they are really expensive to fix.

 

Cheap compared to what? Are you putting them in the same league as Audi, Merc, BMW and comparing prices on that basis?

Because all they are in reality is a dressed up Opel and they don't compare to proper premium brands in terms of fit, finish, build quality and overall driving experience.

The 9-3 for example is just a better looking but over priced Vectra. Not a bad car, actually quite a likeable car but not in the same league as an A4, C Class or 3 Series.

 

I want a 9000.

 

...GSF do 'cheap' parts for SAAB's; id love a 900turbo; early nineties...
...as GEO said the later ones seem to be a 'mongrel-mix' of GM/vauxhall/opel bits...the big spec'd late saabs have big calipers, same as the big vectras for example; handy for an upgrade on a mk1 GOlf...

 

I am intrigued to know what surprises you. To me you seem to have Saabs on a pedestal. Good cars they are but great cars the are by far.

I certainly wouldn't have one over any VAG car for sure.
