My cousin has my old Inca Van (01 Sdi) and its in Limp mode

He got someone that works in a vw dealer to look at it and they think its the ECU, anyone know where to get one?

Or what else it could be? it starts ok and then the glow plug is flashing and revs at a constant 13-14k revs, throttle pedal has no response

I dont know what the scan has on it yet, but i will try and get it

Any advice would be great

Dallan

will put up more info when i have it tomorrow

I had the exact same problem.

Its defo the ECU. There hard to find but I got one from a srappy after two weeks of searching. Picked it up for 30euro and 30 euro to get the immobilisor chip changed from the old to new.

Hope it gets sorted for you

Fault Codes are 17978 and 18047, managed to get it running with throttle response for a couple of mins after disconnecting the ecu to make sure the connectors were clean etc. but then it came back again after restarting

Camillus did you have to get the exact part number eg the one on it is 038 906 013 AN but i can see 038 906 013 L ones on ebay

I know where you can get one. a friend had the same problem with a caddy some time ago. he sold on the caddy but has a new ecu still in box for it. P.M me if your interested

18047 is the throttle potentiometer, take the plugs off the throttle switch and check for moisture and clean all connections etc and put back together and see if that makes a difference

17978 Means at some point, you tried to start the engine but the immobilizer said no....Possibly relay 109 starting to go faulty, no harm replacing it anyway as its common, also check the brake light switch at the pedal as this is also another known reason for the glow plug light to flash if its faulty or disconnected....

Check the ECU for water ingress, clean the connections on the throttle pedal and check the brake light switch and see how you get on......

Thanks Simon

109 was already swapped, will check the other items later or over the weekend

There is a 17568 (Manifold Temp Sensor short to ground) fault constantly on it also, went looking and the sensor on top of the air box was plugged out so said "aha" plugged it back in but still the same maybe the wiring to that is shot too but its tight so will have to take out the air box to see where it goes
