Well I can feel the credit card burning already...!!

Just spoke to Joanna in Westward there and she said they can do the new GTI with the Revo software. SPS1 and 2 were not available as of before Dec but she will call them in the UK on Mon for me.

GB£499 for the remap so it ain't cheap but fook it, I think it will turn the car into a monster.

GB anyone? Tom?!

Been looking at it but not convinced about this whole stage 1 / stage 2 thing they have. Not doing anything for a little while anyway.

The trial might be worth a shot, but I think you need to get them to remove it if you want to go with another company afterwards.

Yeah I'd defo think about ( probably best to get the car first though
- I suppose March is only a few weeks away now)
I think a trail would be handy to see what is like as the only thing I would be worried about it torque steer and eating through tires with LC.

I think if I was going to use anyone I would prefer the Revo so I might get a trial but not too sure how keen Martin would be to load it up when there's no guarantee he's going to get anything out of it if I don't buy it.

My other concern is running it on poxy 95 RON, only in this bloody country.

Heya Mark.

Sure thats the whole benefit of dealing with Westward...
Try Before You Buy. It's only fair.
If the improvement is as good as they claim it is, then they've nothing to lose as long as you're seriously considering getting the remap.
I was on to them about a tuning box for the Landcruiser. I'm told I won't be getting it til the end of Feb now though.

I said I'd call back today sometime to see if the SPS switches were available because I would like to be able to put it back to standard if I needed to.

I reckon 200 miles a tank would be the result. I know people always say 'oh it'll improve MPG' but unless you are going to drive like a saint with it, and you won't, it doesn't work like that. I used to struggle to get 400 miles out of my TDI when it was Superchipped so I'm just trying to weigh up all the pros and cons.

You wont get much of a discount on the Revo for a group buy, there's barely £50 in it for Martin as it stands. So he hasnt got much to play with, I dont think any of the UK places have done straight remap discounts either - only usually on packages chip+remap.

I want to drive the car for a while on 95, and then maybe try a few tanks with octane booster and see what difference it makes. Seems to make a nice difference to power figures as per the post I put up, but not sure how if effects fuel consumption.

Starting reading about the whole FSI thing - but fell asleep with all the emissions talk ...

I know this may seem rudimentary, but I have 2 questions on this

I presume by uploading this type of software you would invalidate the manufacturers warranty?

does this effect the life of the engine?

cheers

Yes Dave it does void your warranty but I had my last car in MSL with problems while remapped and nobody noticed/nothing was said.

The beauty with a lot of remaps is that you can switch them off for warranty work and although they can still be seen if the ECU is flashed, you have to have something seriously wrong with your car for them to be digging that deeply. But without a doubt, if you're someone who would be a nervous wreck about something like losing the warranty then a remap inside warranty cover is not for you.

Possibly after 400,000 miles, a remap would produce more wear on an engine but with normal servicing there's nothing to say a remap will affect the engine - particularly when VW for example are producing 240bhp + out of the 2.0T already.

Mark N,

keep us posted on how you get on with the Revo from westward - I'm considering getting it on my RS. Whats the story with the 95RON? Is it set up for 98 or something?

Is there any other remaps on the market for the 2.0 Tfsi?

I'm looking forward to see how you get on with this.

Yeh no probs, I intend to get it done but I hand on heart need to get rid of the credit card bill from Dec first.

Superchips will do an off the shelf remap for the 2.0T too but I like the idea of serial port uploading and am fairly confident that Martin knows what he's doing, that's not to say Superchips don't either. Other outlets like Upsolute might do them too but I don't know.

Not sure what the story is with the fuel grade either, if it's only usable with 98 RON then I won't get it done.
