Thinking of getting a remap for my mk4 gti 150bhp. Just wondering if anyone has got one done on similar car and could tell me how different it makes the car.

I got a remap and it transforms the car... I have the same car as you, if your cars engine code is AUM you have a ko3s turbo which is better than other mk4 golfs and the remap gives you more power... If I was you I would do a few bits to the engine then take the car out to chippedire, he seems to be the best for remaps.

Getting my own done soon also AUM but before I go im goin to have a vac leak test done. Also recomend getting timing belt done if not already done. Not saying this from experience but id assume a remap would highlight any flaws in the old belt. New plugs maybe?

Joe power at chippedIRE is the only man id let near my car,i wouldn't bother with a cold air intake a waste of money go with a decent uprated panel filter from the likes of ITG in your standard airbox.

I think so yes,i had a K&N panel filter in my old 100pd golf - zero BHP gain but it did rev slightly better esp at higher revs on the motorway, the factory air filter is pretty restrictive when you look at it compared to an ITG or K&N filter, plus the are lifetime filters so need to replace, its a no brainier really.

But aren't the ITG's about 80 beer tokens a piece? And what about the Mass airflow sensor, any truth in the rumor that these filters can cause problems in that department?

Yes the are around that but how much is a standard filter from VW ?

Loads of guys on here with ITG/K&N panel filters with no problems,i had a K&N on my old golf and it was grand,i put a K&N cone filter on the bora and it killed the MAF within 30 minutes,i wouldn't fit another K&N cone filter (i use a Jetex one now) but i would fit a K&N or ITG panel filter.

I had an ITG in the Golf, there is no noticable power difference but it does let the engine breath and flow and won't give you any hassle with the MAF!!

Still pretending to be FR-Tuning customers ,William ? I suggest you take some spelling lessons

Some cold induction kits work , the only one to make a big difference on the 18t is the replacement pipe that normally go under the gear selection unit . The ITG units can gain upto 30 hp
on the TFSI's

Not all panel filters will not give you more power , but they will give the turbo an easier time due to less pressure drop between the filter and the turbo intake , turbo will flow more air with less turbine speed

hey joe just stumbled across this thread. i got my 2.0 tdi golf remapped with you about 2 wks ago, would you recommend uprating to an ITG panel filter? if so, just wondering how much? do you just drop it into the existing housing where the standard filter is? as you said it won't increase power but it'll give the turbo an easier time of it, that cant be any harm

cheers
