its from a tdi passat b4 im doing with a mate, the engine is sitting in the new car and when we turn on the ignition but it wont start and the relay 109 buzzes. the engine does crank over but wont start. no power to solenoid
i put a multimeter on the back of G1/10 (it powers the ecu) and i got only about 3v out on and off. any ideas?
did a google search but no real help

Meant are you at the stage that you are trying to start it or have you just put power to everything for the first time actually

Had a problem with relay 109 on one of these before.
IIRC it was delivering fuel to injectors and all but wouldn't start.
Changed 109 and it was ok.

Oh right sorry about that then, ya I'm trying to get the bastared to start I'm 99% sure we have all the wires connected correctly, I have the 3 White blocks that plug into fuse board f g1 g2 power n ground the plug for the key, turn on but no start, just buzzing

there is no immobilized

this is the second 109 relay and it's still buzzing when the engine and fuse board were in doner car they didn't buzz
i'm more a less bench starting is as I've none of the auxs pluged in like electric windows or brake lights etc,
Am I missing something?? Does the ecu need to be grounded?
It's a z1 from a b4 passat tdi (96)

looks like pins 1, 24 and 26 on the ecu need to be grounded.

Pins 38 switched ignition live.
Pins 42,23 are switched lives throught he engine control relay.
Pin 50 is switched for the glow plug relay.

Hope this helps.

i got it fixed

relay 109 needs two sources of ground, one for the fuse box loom and one for the ecu loom, when tested both were registering as being ground (conductivity) but the ground plug on the ECU loom was loose and back feeding through the ecu loom into the fuse box and then down the fuse box loom to the negative side of the battery. giving a false connected signal reading GRRR

just tightened up the negative connection on the ecu to the battery and relay 109 stopped buzzing and the engine started
