The only two companies I have any sort of respect for are Britton and Hibernian.

I walked into Axa the other day and the criteria was 30 on a Golf GTI - Group 7 insurance she said to me. I said so a 5 years NCB and a full licence 5 years means nothing to you?? 30!!!!!!!!!!!

Same with Quinn, "won't quote on that car".

Were you not a named driver untill recently Mark?

The points probably don't help either

They started asking me the weekend of my 18th, I never had a problem before that

rang them back about cancelling and they said they would quote me but i have to have proof that i was buying the car ie deposit. Thats a bit unhelpfull, dont want to lose a deposit if it turns out insurance is to expensive.

Whats yer opinion on a quote of €1,470 comp for a 03 golf 130bhp highline, 23yrs old and 4yrs ncb. Got this from Hibernian

I paid Quinn 1500ish last year as a 24yr old, with 4yrs ncb on my PD130. Was getting cheaper quotes elsewhere but needed the 'drive other cars' piece so was willing to pay a little extra.

Try FBD - they only list 'TDI', and werent too pushed about the different models. I paid 900 quid this year with Allianz, think it was through quoteline.ie, I'm 25 with 5yrs NCB.

im currently with Quinn im with them 5 year and have 6years NCD they said when i was insuring the corrado
that because i was with them for 5 years that the qoute would not be any more than what i paid the year
before
Image

any other company i rang for a qoute most didnt even have the corrado listed , of would touch it

yea i know i couldnt believe it either, before i was going to buy the raddo i rang quinn for an idea on how
much i might be paying, to see if the insurance would be worth it or would i end up paying a few grand, like some other companys qouted me,
she told me that no matter what the car because i had been with them over 5 years that my policy would not increase plus im over 25, i then asked her what if i was driving a 95 corsa and then bought a new merc or BMW would my policy increase she laughed and said thet wouldnt but the chances of that happening are slim to non..

I was until 2004. But Hibernian let you carry your experience as a named driver on one of their policies onto a policy in your own name once you take out the new insurance with them so as of Feb 06 I have 5 years NCB.

And it's great because when I bought my GTI when I was 21 and all I could get was named driver cover, all my mates said ah you're mad, you should buy a cheap car, pay mad money for your own policy and at least get a NCB and now I have more years than all of them - win win.

Ah right, didn't know that would work that way, nicely done

So when I get my Veyron I can ring quinn up and my insurance will not go up from the few hundred odd it is now?

I'd like to see that

That sounds like a challenge, they said I'd never get a baby seat into the back of a 'rado

I was told recently tha I can't get insurance on anything over a Group 5 (the Bora 130) either 'cause I have only one yrs NCB in my own name & I'm 25, GTIs etc I was told are out until I turn the big 30!
Mine cost me €1800 last year with no NCB in my own name, should be down to around €1200 or so this June
I reckon

Quinn are dopy twats, they really dont have a clue, i worked for them a few years ago!

sure i went to get a quote on the concept, said they wouldnt insure me, i said i was 25 in sept, they said id have to wait till next renewal as their system wouldn allow it as i started my policy in sept when i was 24, Supervisor please!! got it sorted then, eventually. she wouldn give me the quote then unless i owned the car so stupid!!

ended up costing me 70 euro extra a year making it a total then of 710 which is prity good i reckon.

If you ring quinn only way to get things done is to ask for supervisor & put on the pressure!
