Hi my Redbreadvan has just been stolen, the Guards say the car has been in a hit an run already but if you do get offered parts from a late (1989) MK2 Polo please please can you get any details you can and let me or the Guards know.

Absolutely gutted, she's my pride and joy

QUOTE (trevorbrady @ Feb 25 2012, 09:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>that's a balls. feckin joy riding scrotes.

Steven's looks like a good replacement presuming (sadly) that yours won't be recovered...

You're spot on the money, joy-riders - they'd already hit someone's motor with mine when the Guards knocked on my door, which, with the smashed window and hot-wiring, makes it sound like they'll just write it off

Need to keep on the road so Steven's looks a good one, been looking at it over the last few weeks with it being so nice, just hopefully its not been broken up by now - all the thieves left me was my front bumper so I guess they also had in mind to hit one of the garages for a 'drive-away'

Ah thats brutal altogether you should do what my granny used to do and take out the rotor tip from the distributor cap every time you park the car

Hello Everyone

Thanks for all the good wishes - really appreciated made me feel a lot better when I must admit I was feeling pretty bad

Update on Redbreadvan, the Guards found her not too far away after the two joy-riders crashed her into a parked car, head on as far as I know and then smashed the sump on some rocks or high kerbs

Tough luck for them them I had left barely any fuel on board, but the Ban Garda who I spoke to says that the car reeked of petrol so they may have tried to torch it but couldn't. The car has been recovered to the Guard's yard where they are dusting it for finger-prints apparently.

My insurers tell me that they wouldn't be looking to repair the damage as they understand it from the police so it looks like a very sad end to the story for my little car.

Thanks for the tip to Ray and to Steven T about the breadvan for sale, bit of a whirlwind but its now sat on the drive outside as a replacement for redbread, I feel a bit disloyal to have replaced her but glad to still be mobile and with a breadvan too - lots of work to do to bring her up to the same level but well a project is fun -will be making a kill switch or imobiliser a bit of a priority if anyone can help I'd really appreciate the tips

Sad to say bye to the little red one though
