Polo 6n2 Drivers Door Lock Problem

Not sure what forum to try this in so i'll take a chance on this one!

My gf has a 00 6n2 polo bases model and the drivers door lock started acting up the other day. The car is the base model so no central locking - the problem is that something must have come adrift in the barrel because the key won't go in all the way - it stops about 5mm before where it should stop.

I've tried the WD40 and jiggle the key approach but it was no use - surprise surprise

Has anybody else come across this before? Is there a handy fix or do i have to go at it from the other side and dismantle it?

Any help will be very much appreciated, stretching across from the passenger side to open the door isn't helping an already dodgy back!

had the same problem with my 6n, theres a puter ring on the inside off the barel that brakes in these and most vws, all i did was swap the barel for the passanger side, you wont be able to open or lock it from the outside of the passanger door obviously, but i never did anyway.

Had forgotten all about this until i was reminded the other day, oops :)

Thanks Hargy90 - How long did it take to switch them over? I don't have a shed where i'm living now so need to know if its worth a trip over home to do it - especially with all the nice weather we're getting!
