QUOTE Two police officers have been suspended from driving duties after crashing a high-performance car they had seized from a suspected drink-driver.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer had been arrested and taken into custody after being stopped in Hale Barns, Greater Manchester, on Friday morning.

Officers were driving the car away from the scene when it crashed through two front gardens. One of them was injured.

I have heard of this happening (maybe legend

) in Kildare.

Guards confiscated a glanza off a young lad for whatever reason.
Chap got the car back a few days later, a week later again a letter came in the post from his insurance company saying they were canceling his policy !!

Know by the driver and the insurance but not the guards the insurance company had a box fitted to the car to ensure the driver was driving within the limits as a scheme to keep his insurance premium down.

The insurance company had noted on the night of the incident "After" the car had been confiscated that its computer clocked the car doing over 120 mph !!

Not sure what has happened since but worth the mention i think .

ya would be sick.. i know of a lad that got a gt starlet taken off him, he collected it the next day and the steering was all over the shop and the steering wheel was vibrating a fair bit, he went in to put in a complaint and they said more or less that he would be stupid to do so because they wil then inform his insurance company that the car was overpower than what its insured and he could be charged for fraud

or maybe a couple of dumb cops (you get dumb people in every line of work) confiscated a high powered car and drove it beyond their means and rolled it into someones garden.....

seeing as they've been suspended from driving duties which one do you think it really was martin...

Yeah I know what ya mean Conor and I do think they were messing about especially seen as it was driven back to the station when generally they get them towed back... and also when there was 2 of them in it...

but I also dont think its fair to be making assumptions on what went on either when none of us were there... The 2 cops being suspended wouldnt suggest to me that they were definitely messing... that would be more of a standard practice to allow time for an investigation into what happened before they were found innocent or guilty...

but my main point here is that nobody on this site was there on the night and none of us know exactly what happened... Id be waiting for the article at the end of the investigation when the details will be more apparent...

generally i'd agree with this attitude martin but here i'm not really worried. lol. they were clearly gowling. you would have to be doing more then 90-100kms to do that and from the pics thats at most a 50kmph zone.

yeah your prob right in fairness... and I will be the first man throwin stones when its proved that they were messing about and going too fast...

but you see I can sit on my high horse until I know for sure

Are you for real?

Never mind the horse, I have a feeling you are just high if you think that is the result of normal everyday driving in a residential area

I dont care what anybody says, those cops saw the opportunity to take an out of the ordinary car for a lash, inexperienced with the evo's viscous characteristics and the owners lack of ability to maintain the car has led to the car on its side in an innocent persons garden, I hope the two cops get whats coming to them, you cant do that at 50kph.
