Hi all - my name is Paddy Comyn and I now work for Volkswagen Group Ireland as Head of PR and Social Media and I used to write about cars for The Irish Times amongst others. I just wanted to say hello and see if there was any way we could talk to each other a bit better. It might be cool for us to preview some of our stuff early with you guys - (new Beetle, new Golf etc) and to maybe give you some discounts on stuff. Anyway, I don't want to use this forum to be flogging stuff, but I'd be keen to interact a bit better and see what we can do in the future. Sincerely. Paddy Comyn

Howdy Paddy and welcome along.

Can we do anything about voiding the warranty on every VW diesel that goes Coooooo! I think that would be a start in the right direction

Hi and welcome to the forum Paddy nice to see a keen interest from the Vw group of Companies to a forum, as Wes im sure you would get great interest from people, for a meet up or a track day etc, and having a Discount is always an incentive to attract people.

Cheers

x2

I always felt there was a big divide between VW Group (Main dealers etc,.) & the VAG Community of enthusiasts.
It would be great to hear your opinion of the 'VW Scene' in Ireland or how you would like to see it in the future maybe?

Enjoy your stay & feel free to browse in the Members Cars & Project Cars sections... Loads of variety & quality stuff in there!!

Hi Paddy,

Are you based in Liffey Valley? If so we have a monthly meet up on the first Tuesday of every month in Walkinstown or stillorgan.

It would give you a chance to meet us face to face and ask any questions you can think of.
We have a very wide range of cars that make it to the meet ups.

It would be really cool to hold a meet up in one of the Dealerships forecourts.

Would be very cool to have an organised preview of new / upcoming models, e.g. MK7 GTI !

There's a definite disconnect between genuine car heads on here and the main dealers... Although I've found myself that the dealers have improved 1000 fold on the after sales / servicing side of things. The sales side of things still isn't hectic though to say the least.

Welcome along Paddy
It's good to have a manufacturer/ distributer on the site.
It would be good if site members got a chance to go a preview day or something along those lines as not everyone can afford a new car but are surprisingly brand loyal despite this.

As everyone said welcome and it's great to see a member of industry on here

As for new models etc...I don't think theres anyone on here who wouldn't be mad to get a luck at any new models.

For me I can't wait to get a look at the 2-door Amarok

Great idea I'd love to see this happen, I'd even try have a few of the lads with the really special machines in the showroom, get some proper photos and you have yourself a nice marketing campaign promoting the good PR with the brand!
