Alrite folks, been a lurker on Vage for a while so might as well be a newbie here! Bohall's the guy who introduced me but hey, I introduced him to Dubadixion! Met Brian Fright too, in ma ole siopa, 'Studio Eleven' and stuck him with a headunit and threw in a free Mk2 Golf as a sweetner!

Just wondering would there be any interest in an aircooled section oon this forum, (SVF's a bit quiet, and too inta 1302's n 03's!) or wot about combining aircooled stuff with retro look MK1's,2's Golf, Jetta, A50/mk1 polo's, derby's, slammed on 13's rat lookaz etc!

Also for ma sinz i do a bit of scribblin for Slick magazine!!!!!

Yes I'm sorry, Yes I know it's all abit 'ricey', but thats the state of the nation at the mo. I'm the Old school feature editor and anyone who's ever checked my 'Da Yard' page each month will have noticed the constant trend towards slammed Dubs, rat lookers, Air or water pumper dubs on ickle rollers or wirez! I try not to over do it so also I add the odd Rod or custom too! I do it to try 2 introduce the yoof to the otherside, for every 20 umbro clad starrleh drivers, if I can get just 1 to change his ways, the my effort is not in vein!!

I'm a life long dub freak, with 11 rides from the fatherland in my yard, (4 aint VAG!) My motoXer is austrian, KTM - as close to german as I could get! All VAG, Merc's, and Porkers are my bag, detailed correctly of course! Only yank stuff I like are lowriderz!

www.volksrods.com , www.hoodride.com ..........the stuff of dreams! No, I'm not normal!

Oh yeah, if anyone has a Euro ride thats good enuf for a mag feature, e-mail me on

[email protected]

Best o luck wit d 4um!

any chance we could lose the txt spk?

Plenty of lads on here with feature worthy old school cars, whether they'd want them featured in slick magazine is another thing entirely........

TXT speak, well it was late an I could'nt be bothered to be grammatically correct, and as for not wanting to featured in Slick, thats up to them, I got a loada similar response off alot of the american and custom boys, they just associate it with Flush bus an Co.

Thing is, I'm not into rice, and I'm probably a bigger bitch than most when it comes to the cars I like and dont. My section is totally different to anything in the mag, no-one else is covering oldskool stuff and as for euro's, most of the Dub stuff around is ricey MK3 'n 4 more doors which I wouldnt even entertain, Vag should be super clean oem+ rollin some sweet ikle wide rims or just pure retro as far as I'm concerned!

The custom guys I've featured were all cagey but came away happy with there features in the end, how many Irish cars ever make it in to UK mags? How many are good enuf???? 1%

Folk can be snobby all they like, but at the end of the day you should see it as a way of promoting your scene in Ireland. The ammout of knacker box owners we piss off coz we wont feature their pride an joy is unreal, a few have even kicked off at us at shows!!!

The mag covers fashion, music and extreme sport too. I ride MotoX, BMX, MTB and minibikes, I drive old VDubs, and slammed ratty bays and bugs, I watch skating etc and I'm pissed off with the lack of respect an pure ignorance towards these minorities, from our GAA loving, polyester wearing, drink fueled nation. I had a car audio shop that was pestered every day from the rice comics for ads, so I put it to em to let me write about wot I'm into and SLICK took me up on it! I'm trying to educate em and the mag is the way I chose to do it!

Slicks not my baby, theres stuff in there I dont like too, but thats the market, we're doing something different, - its only 8 months old.

I'm giving you a soapbox, use it!

Now I want a mint MK1, nice motor, slammed on 13x 8-10j rims for a feature at some stage this year, anyone interested?

Sorry, Stead (The Parrott) was logged in, that last post was mine!

No!!
possibly the ultimate old school VW motor in a super lightweight race spec cult coupe chassis, slammed, with all the right bits, featured in Slick magazine........nah, no thanks..... Its not being snobby either, myself Dave and a lot of others here have enough of grief with the local scumbag brigade knowing whats under the bonnets of our cars and where they are parked, without advertising the fact on a national level, to be honest, a lot of folks with the really modified stuff just dont need the attention.

@Dirty1, Was it you who spoke to me at the Terenure show this year about my mk2??? If I remember correctly I gave you more or less the same reasons outlined by VST above. I imagine you are going to get a similar response from a lot of the guys with modified machinery on here.

8valver, yep that was me, I've no problem if guys dont want a feature, I mean is your car, your choice. Did a Camero earlier this year, it was a high dollar car, and the owner was really cagey bout the whole thing, as he had his daily driver nicked and so where his neighbours motors, the previous week. I rolled up with 3 others to take pics and he was worried we'd mug him and take the car!! We didnt print anything to do with his where abouts etc.

Like i said, every custom and american car owner I've approached has had issues, just cos of the rest of the content in the mag, they dont think I'm serious either, but they all have had good response to it since. I featured to old boys retro classics, a MK2 scort an a 64 rally spec mini, not the sora guys who'd even take a second glance at the mag, but they were delighted in the end with the finished product as where there club members from the plug they got in the article.

There isnt much to choose from in the way of Rods and Customs in this country, so its hard to get feature cars of the right standard. You'd laugh at the ammount of muppets in kitted 205's on 17's etc who reckon theyre car is old skool and want a feature.

Nah no probs, just thought the Vage snobbery had followed over here!

I've a mere 90 8valve myself, and laugh when guys in Evo's wana race me! Why does the old GTI attract yobs? Especially ones in twice the brake 4wds?

I love when clowns in Evos try and race, the one time it happened I had a very confused Evo6 owner wondering why that old 1990 VW spat flame every gear change and was able to stay ahead of him......

Is that Stephen's GTR you're on about?

No, never met him in the Corrado, I only really bring it out to test it or if I've changed the setup on it, 1500 mile charger rebuild intervals make it a bit impractical for an everyday motor and its in a million bits at the moment anyway. We have had a bit of craic on the road and on the track before though, had a great dice with my old S3, his old turbo'd Corolla and a Punto race car at Mondello, good fun.

Ya that's the lad, I said I'd ask 'cause he likes a bit of a challenge and was thinkin he'd have tried his case, a right lunatic, he likes his roundabouts.
He said ye were in Mondello a few weeks ago alright.

That Corolla was a quick car, something different too and he kept it nice and plain. You did a bit of work for one of his pals, I wouldn't know him as well as Stephen but he seems to be pretty sound - Chris with the red M3.

Is that the green Corrado you're on about? If it is she looks well, see it the odd time I pass.
Yeah we did a bit of work on Chris's M3, not a bad little car.

Thats the one,not much to look at really, all the good stuff is underneath..........

That's where you want it!
