This is the original sale for the car

http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?sho...c=61489&hl=

there is now 155500 miles on the car, increase in mileage was due to bringing it from limerick to wexford, and a round trip from wexford to galway and back thanks to a time waster.

The work that the car needs to get through the nct is the following.

The powersteering needs to be fixed
the rear brakes need to be sorted
beam alignment needs to be sorted
there is a small blow out of the exhaust.

I have the following parts to fix the above
hoses,
mk 4 brakes with hoses to convert from mk2 to mk4 with new pads
perfect exhaust from an original irish 16v.
Track rod ends.

price of the car is 2600 euro including the above parts.

It would suit me to sell this car now as i have to move in a few weeks. If it doesnt sell then i'm going to test it then sell it.

You can see here that the back bumper is sitting a bit off, the beam is bent a bit and there is a scratch on the bottom right of the bumper

Image

This is the only bit of rust i can find on the car and its only surface

Image

original gti keys the passengers door lock is on a different key but the ignition barrel and the drivers door key are original, not really an issue as the car has remote central locking

Image

history, there's quite alot

Looked like he sold it to you with 134k miles from original ad.

I figured thats where you got, that was its mileage in august 2008.

If it doesnt go within the next 10 days or so i'm probably going to start sorting it.

QUOTE (conorm69 @ Jul 9 2011, 08:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Why the quick turnaround?

without getting into too much detail, i bought the car for reasons i dont really want to get into on a forum, i was going to sell the audi, fix the golf and use it as a runaround but that plans changed. I'm keeping the audi and i've got a few plans for it... there isnt much point in keeping the golf.

I also want to buy another Ducati

I understand that there may be some skepticism as to why i'm selling it so quickly.
When James put it up for sale, I had the notion in the back of my head to buy a golf but it was going to be later on in the year. I had a look in the uk and this car was a much better bet then bringing anything (vrt on these things is still stupid at just over 1500 euro).

I went and had a look at the golf and spoke to James, saw how he kept it and i knew i wasnt going to find a straighter mk2 in a hurry, so did what most guys do and bought the car when i had absolutely no need to buy it.

Haha, thanks mate, i hadnt realised

Ahh, i'm not too fussed if it doesnt sell now. I'm moving to a place thats 2.5km from work so not dropping 80 euro on fuel every 5 days, i'm getting 10 hours a week of my life back and I think i'm being a bit of a muppet selling the audi so if this doesnt shift before the move i'm gonna just throw a bit of money into it and fix it.

OR

drop a vr6 into it

Its tempting and it would be bad ass.

I know an abf would make more sense but I was up with Geo a few weeks ago and Tadhg has just got his hands on another vr6, first time i've actually heard one and i have to say it sounded awesome.

Other end of things is this golf is very original and there arent too many original kr 16v's around so it might be a bit of a sin to change it, need to do a bit of thinking.

Agreed, it's been giving me evils for the last few days so i think i'm gonna have to make a decision, very impressed by your car so far

I hear ya.... Right now its just a notion, I dont know the first thing about the vr6. I dont want to ruin the car's dynamics or anything so i'm gonna consult with the heavy hitters and make a decision.

KR vs ABF vs 2.9 VR6

ABF with cams and full system, 190 bhp or there abouts with some other bits. thats what id do. but a Vr does sound AMAZING!!!!! if you get a OBDII 2.8 you should easy get 200bhp dont bother with a 2.9.

the abf will drive more like a KR though and will have the same feel up front

Cool, I have someone coming to look at the car on friday, if he doesnt take it i reckon it will be an abf. Putting a 2.8 would be awesome but would make it very expensive to own.

Its not the fuel consumption, its the road tax

i'm already paying 1k per year on the quattro.
