hello! new to the site this is my bora 1.9tdi 90bhp its completely standard right now but is going to get some work done in september: colour coded, lip spoiler, rear windows tinted, new wheels and hopefully a remap

anything else worth doing while its in the garage? also what wheels would suit it? on a budget of 700euro and want to get 17s with half decent tyres so il hav to go with replicas for the time being im thinking about getting these with better tyres http://cgi.ebay.ie/17-Ace-112-Alloy-Wheels...1QQcmdZViewItem ............cheers lads lovin the site!

Drop it on nice wheels, wouldn't worry about much else after that!

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's tornado red like mine unless the lighting is seriously messed up.

By the way. If you are going to colour code it give me a shout as I'll swap you a rear rub strip already done for your black textured one (providing it's in perfect condition).

Get suspension and wheels first.

Hello Mr.Shifter
Welcome to the site, there is a few Bora's on here with subtle mods that really make the Bora look cool. Go into members cars for some great ideas.
I dont think the remap is going to give you much extra horses you would be best spending your money on coil overs or leather on the inside for the creature comforts.
Good luck with the project alot of people on here waithing to give good sound advice.

QUOTE (mr.sifter @ Aug 3 2008, 04:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>thanks for the welcome and advice! whats the argument for and against 18s? dont think i could go with the golf front!
its not for every one,the bora front would look better on the golf i think anyway, deffo do the drop on the bora anyway, itll change the car so much, but dont forget to get tracking adjusted after though or ule be buying tyres u didnt bargin on

the original ace rims you posted are sweet,as always though 18"s would look the best, esp when lowered, the ace rims are one of the closests replicas of the BBS RC which i have fitted to my own bora,if you want an idea on how the might look in 18" on a lowered bora then check out mine.

As for the argument for and against 18's,if you are on a budget and are going to buy reps i would stick to 17's,reps can be soft (not always the case but it can be hit and miss)

If you are going for an OEM wheel or well known brand like O.Z ACe etc then its 18's all the way.

Keith over at alloy wheels.ie is the man to talk too,see what he can do for you

The colour coding and the new wheels make a huge difference. What I would say though is you've the same problem as my Golf at the moment, its sitting far too high on the new wheels and would luck much better brought down to earth a bit. Otherwise, nice work!!

QUOTE (Limerick-man @ Sep 9 2008, 06:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Where did you come across the spoiler actually? Friend is looking for one

bought it off ebay but its not perfect needed intense sanding to be paintable and the centre of it which goes over the vw badge is slightly off in order to fix it on square with the boot

the painting was done by a friend of mine at cost and is top notch so i owe him bigtime for it as for lowering it one of the shocks is gone so i might invest in springs/shocks but the car is pushing on 110k and is due a major service not to mention timing belt needing done soon, not sure if i can justify big spending on a car with this mileage but i do plan on holding on to it for a couple of years!

thanks for the all the feedback!

Thanks for that

There was a lad at the Fermoy show with a very nice Bora, with plenty of money gone into it and i think it had 170K on it. I wouldn't worry about 110, sure u can always get a new engine
