After months of searching and saving I've finally got myself another golf, a mk3 tdi. Has the gti interior (which is mint!), deep dish alloys and coilovers. Its lovely to drive, isnt rotten underneath and is a miser on fuel what more could ya want
Image

Needs some bit's and bobs! two new back tyres, gear selector needs to be adjusted, some welding on the exhaust, sunroof needs a bit of tlc (its taped shut
Image
), and other small little things like a decent radio.

Pics are below, just gave it a quick bath so when I get the chance it'll get a proper wash and wax
Image

Image

I love how low it is, a bit impractical for the roads around where I live but I dont care!
Image

Image

Dont know the make of the wheels, think they look well though

Image

Image

Sunroof needs to be seen to

Image

Should be on the road 100% next week
Image

and my dad insists i raise it up on inch front and back but we'll see

These came today

Cant put them on till after the nct re-test, car failed on lots of stuff half of which I expected anyway one thing I didnt expect was that id have to take off the wheels because there too wide. In my personal opinion there not that wide.....

Image

Well anyway after all the work is done for the re-test the german style plates will be going on, rear speakers wired up front ones replaced, roof racks, debadged grill one or two custom made stickers. That"ll do it for a while then.

QUOTE (dj.humps @ Feb 3 2012, 09:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>German plates should be grand for NCT,mine just passed with em and they don't even have the dashes! Sweet bus
Image
Mine hasn't has any leaks yet... (fingers crossed)

Image

Id put them on but im as well leave them off for the retest, they seem to be fickle in ballina
Image
, id hate to have to bring it in a third time!
Ha good i hope it stays that way for ya, leaks are annoying!
Love the recaros in yours and those wheels

Well car passed its nct retest today, I wont bore you all with pictures of what needed to be done basically it was my brakes, shocks, tyres, lights and airbag light that needed some attention
Image

So it has a fresh nct and Its german plates were put on this evening
Image
I got a set of clarion speakers from a suzuki grand vitara for the doors which are great little speakers, they dont fit in well though in place of the orinigal speakers. Wired up the jvc's in the parcel shelf and well there nothing to write home about the buzzing outta them is cruel, infact the would sound setup in the car is awful, I wish i had just saved up and bought a set of good speakers a good amp , but I guess you live and learn, all my monies have gone elsewhere on the car.

So next is to fix the cruel sound, debadge grill and finally roofracks and then thats it as im moving away.
So some pictures ,will get more up when its washed and maybe has the grill and roofracks
Image

Finally found the obd thingy, not where the internet told me it was.....

Image

Im doing a great job of minding my wheels arent I
Image

Image

NCT mode

Image

New speakers, speaker cover wont fit over them!

These have seen better days....

first of all happy paddys day
Image

Been a little while since I updated this mainly because I havent done much with the car apart from drive it. Not out of lack of interest just up in the air about moving to england and the decision to sell up or not, still havent decided
Image

Anyway, gave the car a proper clean today wash, detar, wash again, wax, windows and trim got a bit of attention, carpet cleaner was rooted out for the carpet in the boot and my mats, good old hoover to get the sand outta the car from the surfboard as well.
Was annoyed with the bonnet, the previous owner got it resprayed and no matter how much I try it never shines up as good as the rest of the car
Image
I blame a below standard paintjob, something not right with the clear coat maybe.
I removed all the stickers from the car, and the german plates are on. The rear lights are really irking me, they always have so i think im going to swap them for the gti ones. A roof rack and debadged grill would be nice before dubshed, but I dont think thats going to happen....

Anywho pictures below

Image
,
As a feeler if anybody would be interested you can pm me an offer, just to test the water. 1z engine, 115k, nct, gti interior, 16in 9j alloys streched tyres, angle eye headlights, collies, german + standard plates...

QUOTE (oldschool @ Mar 26 2012, 09:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>sweet car. how did you go about rolling your arches? i want to get my arches rolled but dnt want to spent 100+ getting it done professionaly so i was thinking of using a rubber mallet or a bar
Image

I didnt do them myself, I watched! hammer/mallet was used
Image
not the most professional way, there's tons of how to videos on youtube, I think ive seen one where they use a base ball bat.

Have decided to hold onto the car until I go travelling in the next few months, so while I have it I may as well be doing a few bits to it
Image

My fog lights look awful, I never use them since there not wired into the light switch so I decided to cover them up.

Image

Image

Looks alot neater imo
Image

New addition
Image

Image

have got to stop bringing people places....
Image

On the mechanical/boring side of things my passenger door handle/lock needs a bit of fixing so im practising on the golf in the shed before I start taking
my own apart, may seem like a simple job to alot on here but I tend to break stuff.....alot...

In the past month or so I have de-wipered the back of the car and changed stickers. 2x new front tyres ( camber sucks donkey balls
Image
only got 6k out of my last tyres ) and new set of jom bluelines from the site sponsor alloywheels
Image
Car also got a new oil filter, oil change and new front wheel bearing. Made my own Valve/dust caps too!

Image

Shiny and new
Image
. Car is much better on the road now, 100% recommend the site sponsor for all your coilover needs, pleasure to deal with!

Image

Coilovers seem to be a bit fiddly to set up right, even when all 4 are set to the same height not one corner in the car
is even.

Image

Image

My favorite thing I think ive done to the car
Image

Image

Just rolled over to 117k
Image
still low miles for a diesiel of this age.

Now just some general pic's

Image

Image

Image

Image

Thats all for now. Have a chip in the windscreen that needs to be sorted and the other front wheel bearing needs to be replaced.

Car coming along nicely, all it needs now is either texture bumpers or remove the arches.

Oh and more lows i know JOM go lower than that
Image

Keep up the good work.

more lows can be alot harder with 9" wheels trust me i know
Image
but if you bulk up on bump stops then you can get the lows ya need with no rubbin 'simples'
Image

as for the car not being the same height all the way round your top mount bushings could be slightly more worn on some sides than others, new mounts all round should do the job rightly

Have you rolled the arches?

Thanks! yup arches are rolled, but maybe they could be done better, rubbing on the back is cruel.

QUOTE (rustyears @ May 7 2012, 11:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>car is lookin seriously shiny.I like the bumper tops colour coded

Thanks
Image
Yeah I wouldnt have it any other way, want to get the side moldings color coded too.

Image
yes joms go alot lower, needs to be dropped half an inch on one arch and quater of an inch on another. Then its even all around and I can still drive it on the shitty mayo roads!
