Here's a pic of the engine bay. Not sure if its a diesel or petrol... I have been told people think its a diesel?

In regard to the stance, wheels must be deep - possibly widened steels if I can find some where to get them done, arches rolled, and certainly a serious drop, not sure how low but as low as I can without losing my under carriage on Kerry roads.

Suggestions for lowering kits? What kits are preferred on Mk1 Jettas on a moderate budget (all expenses have to be passed by the wife

nice to see the jettas comming into form. have 2 on the back burner for future projects. maybe when the tdi conversion becomes more common and easier to do????

YEP THATS THE 1.6 DIESEL NO TURBO VARIANT!
HEAVY AS FOOK!
BUT AT LEAST THE ENGINE MOUNTS ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE FOR A GTI OR 20VT CONVERSION!
