did you buy the strips and handles primed or did you get the done..

if you baught them primed did you get them off the stealers or spurious. wouldn't mind treating my yoke to a bit of colour coding..

thanks

I bought them primed genuine, i got them from vagparts.com and they cost 210 sterling including delivery, it included the handles primed also, a bit pricey but was well worth it. I then got all sprayed including paint etc 130 euro.

thanks for that.. not really that pricey considering the result.. look really well.. how have the brakes bedded in now.. is there much of a differance in stopping power than stock

the brakes seem fine, when i got in the Passat the brakes seemed harder as i nearly put myself through the windscreen, i just have to press a little further to brake. It must be normal for the Golf because i drove another and it was the same. The passat set up may be slightly different.

Did you change the master cylinder that time or keep the original one?

a VNT 20/17 hybrid turbo and FMIC.

No didnt change the master cylinder, didnt think i needed to. The brakes seem very good regardless. I drove another Golf , GTI, with the same conversion. they feel the exact same so it must be normal.

It's just I heard before from a lad that if you put 16v brakes on an 8v, diesel mk2/3 etc. and didn't use the 22mm master cylinder you would have to press harder/ have more travell in the peddal but the brakes would be just as good and might even be better by keeping the origrnal one. This might be the case in your car...

unlikely because the callipers and the brake pads seem to be the same, main difference was diameter of discks and different carriers.
