It's a 1991 mk2 golf GTI 16v, 3 door in the rare colour of Pearl Grey Metallic

- Crystal Side Repeaters.
- Crystal M3 Rear Lamps.
- Modified to fit, Mk3 golf VR6 front splitter.
- Early CL chrome edged grill with chrome VW badge and 16v grill badge.
- Rare, Stainless sunroof wind deflector arms.

Interior

- Trimsport, Alloy golf ball gear knob.

- New Sachs Sporting Clutch
- Reconditioned Gearbox was also fitted, including having the Diff rivets bolted. (Common Failure Point)
- Short Shift kit fitted with spherical jointed shift rods and new shift bushes throughout.

I may be selling if anyone is interested as I might be going for something with a bit more umph! I have a book of receipts that show about £8,000 being spent on the car by the previous owner since 2003. I just put a new clutch on it and its not yet registered. It has a full service history and is a amazing condition. The last guy loved it so much that he insisted on keeping the rear number plate as a momento!

Here are a few pics..

Nice clean Golf - only thing I don't really like is the single headlamp grille and silver VW badge.

Like the Harry Chapin song im a 'red roses are red and green leaves are green' type that prefer's a GTI to have a GTI badge on the grille and its twinheadlamps.

The grill has to have its red border too - to me that's the coolest feature on the GTI

To be honest, I think I'd agree with you there. I've been considering getting that grill and may do if I don't sell it.

Have to say I agree with AG in that if the car was mine I would be inclined to return it to something approacing standard condition. The main thing is I'm not convinced about the cl grille/big bumper combo, although I love cl grilles on small bumper cars. But that's just my personal taste and the car looks well as it is and is obviously a very clean example. That is a very nice colour on a mk2, think 8valvers mk2 might be that colour as well.

Why are you considering selling it? I thought you were very happy since you traded 'down' to a cheaper car with no repayments etc

Yeah, totally am. Just thought I may be able to get something for a few more quid. VR6 conversion or something along those lines. Not sure yet.

Where might one get a OEM MK2 GTI Grill anyway? Can you get them new anywhere?
You can still get them from the dealers, I'd take the one that's on it off your hands if your selling.

Yeah, stick it on instead of that manky blue one

Possibly, how much are the new ones? How much for mine?
I'll give you a swop for a red stripe double one

Very nice golf by the way.... love the colour
