Can anyone help me with a little problem i am having. Yesterday i fitted a pipercross air filter onto my mkv golf, now as you all know this means i had to take of the plastic engine cover which also incorporated the main air intake leaving eveything exposed so to speak.can i buy a universal rocker cover to fit over the exposed parts yet still leave me with the room to keep the new air filter?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanking you in advance

I would have thought they were lively enough. There was a Mk 4 Golf 1.4 behind me at a junction last night & I was surprised by it. Obviously when I got 3rd gear I pulled away easily but the 1.4 was fairly lively low down.

If that Pipercross induction kit is designed for the Mk V Golf then it shouldn't do any damage...I'd hope!! But those MAF's are notorious for failing so just be aware of that.

It's your car, do what you please with it. And in all fairness lads, all of us love that induction roar & the growl from a decent stainless steel system. Unfortunately it's become associated with the Max Power lads at this stage though.

We got free rental cars to drive to limerick every weeken a while back for work, we were given 05 puntos and there straight 1.3 i think, the kick in first and second was more than id get from the 8v mk2!

You have to start learning somewhere, and I reckon it's better to learn while you can still ( hopefully ) put the car back to standard and rely on the VW warranty to bail you out.

It's interesting to watch the mechanics trying to explain different error codes when you know what the real story is!!

You're probably better off alright. A nice Miltek exhaust system might give you
some of the growl that you're looking for & maybe 1 or 2 more bhp too
Ring 01-8138885 & see if they do a miltek for your car
