Red I means she's 180bhp and silver/no red means shes a 150.

If he has the choice, buy the 180. Bigger turbo

If its a AUM code 150bhp model they will have the same turbo (k03s) as the 180bhp cars, only difference is a more aggresive map.

 

red I or "Red Eye" is the modified sports and performance devision of VW, all red eye cars are horrid low with RS4 reps as standard and the diesel versions came with blow off valves made from real pieces of pigeon.

Now "red d red eye",,,,,that's a whole different kettle of fish

As already said, red I means nothing. Get her checked properly to know for sure.

 

if its a real red eye its 180 brake and 6 spead box...

I think it might be K03 in 150bhp and K03s in 180.

Oh yeah and check the sticker, as said above anyone can change the badge.

Some of the aum's have k03s turbo's. The one I have for the mk2 has anyway. Part numbers on the turbo will confirm.

Yep my AUM has a Ko3s and its 150, never mind the badge, mine came with a GT red I badge, Whipped it off fairly quick though

 

my agu has a red i, 150 standard. i don't know if it came from the factory like that but i didn't change it?

so don't buy based on badge

i had a 2002 silver gti and it was 150bhp. i now have a 2000 gti red i and its 150 bhp 5 speed . the 180 was brought out in 2002-2003 as far as i know, and it had 6 speed.

 

So an AUM (150 with ko3s ,5speed) and and AUQ (180 with ko3s,6speed) should both remap to in or around the 220bhp mark... think id prefer the 5 speed with less gear changing,especially with a petrol

ah dude. i feel my car is so missing the 6th gear. i do heaps of motorway driving.

might have a gander round to see if it can get a 6speed box for it.

the mk4 i had before was mapped around 195-200 by revo. it was a standard 150. maybe the 180s have a different ecu. but im not sure!
