ok, so my mk2 started guzzling water the last few days (as in a tank a day) also the driver footwell is very wet every morning. is this coincidence?? is there someway that the water is finding its way from the tank into my car?, burst pipes etc...please help before i tear my car apart

Pray to god you just split one of the two pipes going into the heater matrix, or you'll be taking that dash out again soon.... not a nice job when the matrix goes.... I've done it once too many times. Good luck

i am a master of taking the dash out at this stage. ive only ever done it as far as the plastic covering the heater and stuff. if i go beyond that will i see where the two pipes are?
i also discovered today that my accelerator cable literally had no rubber grommit and was free to move as it pleased. this hole was directly above where my highest bit of water was on the carpet..the soundproofing around the hole was damp too. hopefully that was the problem....hopefully
